I’m really looking for success stories - I’m on my last option. I’m an inpatient with severe depression and have been in for 5 weeks taking venlafaxine- was started on lithium along with it yesterday and have been told this has has good results and fast.
Please help me! Has anyone had positive effects with lithium for severe depression

Hi, Wrose! I took lithium together with Effexor (venlafaxine) for almost seven years... very successfully! I had been treated for TRD (treatment resistant depression) for a better part of my life prior to being prescribed this combination of medications. I'd only add that you'll need to have periodic blood work done to check your lithium level. There's a fine line between the therapeutic dose and potential toxicity with lithium. Otherwise, I had no problems with side effects either short- or long-term. Best regards and I hope they work as well together as they did for me.
