Never helped my pain all it did was make my bipolar disorder WORSE.
Sorry it didn't help with your pain as I am taking it now for Stage 4 primary liver cancer in combination with steroids and it is working pretty well.
Bi-polar is a potential problem however as it is quite similar to SSRI's and that can be problematic (you can read my profile to find out my story)
I just broke my rib completely through. I've had plenty of injuries in the past, never anything break but this is the worse pain I've ever felt. It happened after sneezing. My pain tolerance is very high. So for me to even go get checked, it's beyond bad. The x-ray showed my rib broke completely through. Treatment, time. I had to nearly break the doctors arm to get a prescription for 10 whole tablets of vicodin es. Which didn't even touch the pain.I can't breathe in without massive pain nor sit, lay down. No position helps. I understand people abuse they're medications. But to group everyone in the same boat is getting ridiculous. So instead you make the patient suffer. Everyone is a completely different individual. To all be grouped the same due to people who abuse their medications ruin it for the responsible one. That's my personal take on the medical establishment.
Hi I take tramadol for pain associated with necrosis and severe arthritis. I am not on the doses you are and you sound like you are in a lot of pain. I only take when needed and last night with sciatica pain down my left leg and neck pain, I took one 50 mg tablet with a sleeping tablet zoplicon. It helps and gave me 4 hrs sleep. During the day if needed as I still work full time, I take Panadol forte, which has 60 mg of codeine. I am under a spinal surgeon who is also a pain management doctor. If you feel you are not coping, it might be a good idea to have a chat with a specialist. I am booked in for
I see your question is from 2017 but I want to answer anyway. I've taken tramadol for at least 9 years for my arthritic hands. I take 100mg tramadol with 1000mg of Tylenol 3 times a day. It has kept me active and almost pain free. A friend of mine takes her tramadol with 650mg aspirin. I can't tolerate aspirin, but the Tylenol and tramadol work for me. I can tell by the aches when the meds have worn off but only take them 3 times daily, every 6 hrs. I worry more about the tylenol trashing my kidneys so I stay at 3000mg/day with that.
If I'm in a very humid climate, I suffer much more hand pain, but my full time home is in Phoenix so I'm usually fine.
So for chronic pain, I think tramadol works well. IMO, it isn't a good drug for post surgery or fractures. I've had those and have to take an opioid Rx then.
Let your doctor know how any drug works for you. We are all so different that it's really a guess on the doctor's part. They won't know what works if you don't tell them. Good luck.
Tramadol helped me sleep.. As far as pain I wouldnt know?
As an RN who works in geriatrics, I see doctors prescribe Tramadol often. In my opinion it doesn't work any better than 650 mg of Acetaminophen. And it seems that Norco helps with their pain control much better. Ask your doctor for Norco for now.
Thank you for your obvious lack of empathy; you take take acetaminophen for a broken bone and I'll listen to your half assed advice. :/
I suggested Norco not Tylenol. You don't have to be so rude. Have a great day.:)
I didn't mean to cause rudeness & meanness.
Please hold your tongues
with the negativity.
God Bless You All
Hi, I agree with Chuck, Tramadol is an excellent pain reliever for moderate to severe pain, sadly, broken ribs are really bad. Learning not to laugh or cough is a challenge.
Thank You, Stephen.
Sneezing is the worst. Oh!
I don't sneeze just once either
LOL
Oh boy, your not kidding. It's my first experience with a broken rib. I hope I never go through this again.

clowns12; Yes this has proven to be a very effective pain medication for many many people. And then try to keep you on the least amount or length of time due to many have a very hard time getting off of it. But if your still having problems you can give your doctor a call and see what the doctor says.
