I’ve been taking sertraline for 7 days now for anxiety and low moods. I have trouble sleeping and wake up throughout the night. Since taking sertraline I’ve been feeling so exhausted and no motivation for anything. Is this normal? Will it pass? It’s also curbed my appetite. I just want to lay in bed all day
Does tiredness with sertraline ease? I’ve also got no appetite since starting?

All of the side effects you are experiencing are considered common ones, these side effects in most people, as everyone reacts to medications differently, do subside within a week to 10 days. If they do not, you must inform your Dr..
It has been only a week, I understand how you feel, be patient, Sertraline is an effective antidepressant for most people, hang in there.
Thank you for your response Masso really appreciate it. Did you have similar side effects? My dr has me taking it at night. Do you think it’ll be better to take in the morning?
Hi Mila, first off you are welcome.
I should have mentioned that I do not take or have taken this antidepressant.
I am a patient and have been a member in this community for 10 years and have answered over 9.000 questions all in different areas and subjects/topics, I am not bragging or tying to impress you or anybody else.
During these 10 years, because my motivation is to help people, I have read, studied on my own, researched, analyzed and learned many things. This is my passion... I do NOT intend/pretend to be a Dr. at all, I am a patient just like you and I want to apologize for not letting you know that I have never been on Sertraline.

So;
Potential side effects of Sertraline related to sleeping disorder:
Very common side effects of this medication are insomnia which affects up to 21% of people and somnolence, this last one can affect up to 13% of patients being treated with this medication.
As I mentioned on my answer common and now very common side effects do subside in most people within a week to 10 days (everyone reacts differently to meds), and if they become bothersome do inform your DR., always.
I suggest you take your antidepressant in the mornings as you are having difficulty sleeping, but ALWAYS ask/inform your Dr. first, NEVER self medicate.
