Day 4 - feeling no appetite and don’t want to look at food. I have hot sweats and feel panic like. Is this normal? Making me feel worse than I was before starting to take the medication. Also I feel very sleepy after taking it?

Day 8 on sertraline 50mg I also have no appetite, feel panicky and uncomfortable in my own skin not knowing what to do with myself ringing in the ears isn’t as bad as before think you have to go through it to come good once again
I too feel the same very panicky and uncomfortable and not really knowing what to do. Just hoping this starts to lessen soon. It must be working though as it is not everyday. I will keep hanging in there.
"Common (1% to 10%): Hyperhidrosis/increased sweating"

"Very common (10% or more): Somnolence (up to 13%)"
"Some side effects of sertraline may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.
Side effects have been reported to be generally mild and transient. They are most common during the first 2 weeks of treatment and decrease in intensity and frequency with continued treatment. They generally do not lead to treatment cessation."
Hello! What you describe are common side effects when initially starting treatment with an antidepressant/anxiolytic. They are temporary and usually get better each day. Be aware that increased anxiety is also a common side effect so try not to worry too much because this, too, is "normal".
Try to be patient and look for the subtle signs of improvement:
"Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood, anxiety, and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks to fully improve.

Best regards and always feel free to post with any questions or concerns you may have, okay? Wild Cat
That was very good advice wild cat like me I think others just need some hope ,I’m not sure if sertraline is going to work or just paranoid it won’t,ringing in the ears hasn’t gone completely but is a bit better I have no appetite I feel a bit up and down if that makes sense I’m doing way to much deep thinking and worrying about everything hopefully eventually I’ll get some inner peace with this drug and anxiety and panic attack will lesson
That's what I'm afraid of! The side effects you and others have talked about from "Zoloft". My Primary doc just prescribed them (50mg.) to me and now I'm afraid to take them! I'm afraid of the weird feeling they might give me and most of all, what about the withdrawals? Your doctor never tells you about those things... no... you have to go on the internet and ask strangers what their experiences have been. Heck with it! I'm already on chronic pain meds. that can cause bad withdrawal symptoms , I don't need anymore medication problems. Sometimes, less is more! Or; when in doubt, leave it out! I take supps. like Ginseng, too. If only we could find naturalpathic (?) substances. If anyone knows of any natural supplements that may help with things like anxiety and mood, please share. ;-)
