This medication should be given as early in the AM as possible to prevent insomnia effects at night. This doesnt mean you should wake a child up very early and it also depends on the childs schedule, when he wakes and how late he stays up. For a school aged child, it should be given before school hours (6-9am) again, depending on his schedule. 11:30 was probably a bit late. What time does the child normally wake up?
When I take Concerta it lasts for about 12-13 hours, starting after I swallow the pill.
After seeing your other posts, I highly suggest calling a ADHD professional and obtain all the information from him/her. I feel like the physician should have explained this kind of stuff to your daughter. This is a very serious drug for anyone to be taking and it has immediate effectiveness and side effects such as insomnia.
My 6 yr old son takes 18 mg. Its been more difficult in the summer since he sleeps later. I try to not give it later than 930 or 10 but We take 3mg of melatonin around 30 min before bedtime. It is a natural sleep cycle supplement that helps regulate his sleep. Even during the school year we use melatonin.
