Am I allowed to have clear fluids other than water WITHIN the 2 hours before/ 1 hour after time window of the dose? Such as coffee, tea, or clear juices? Or do I need to wait like I do with food? I am on 1 gm dose- 4 times a day for bile reflux disease.
Sucralfate - What does empty stomach mean exactly? Are clear fluids allowed?

I would stick with your present schedule. Sucralfate coats the digestive treat I was on it for about a year after having bile duct cancer. I know its frustrating but give it some time. I can empathize with you hope this helps.

Hi Packard2046,
Thanks for responding! I'm fine with the schedule (it is a pain but will do what I need to). What I am wondering more about is how empty my stomach needs to be an hour before and two hours after each dose.. My gastroenterologist is away right now and I am getting conflicting answers from pharmacists.. Were you allowed to have clear fluids other than water? For example, were you able to sip on tea or juice right after taking a dose? Or were you restricted to just water for one hour?
