I just started taking Ativan for anxiety. Rather than a soft relaxed feeling it’s a jolt?

Hi, Ppalmdesert!
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "jolt" but some people have reported increased anxiety, restlessness, excitation, agitation, stimulation, and tension.
Side effects generally resolve over several days to a week or so but since this an unusual reaction to the medication you should report it to your doctor for professional advice.
Question, how long have you been taking the medication. It's a possibility the impact may have not set in. If that is the problem, try this until it does. Vitamins B-1 and B-12. Both vitamins are good for controlling anxiety attacks, paranoia, depression, insomnia. These vitamins are nutrients for the brain in a very positive way.
It's best not to overdue taking just B vitamins individually because it can cause imbalances with the other B vitamins. Ask your pharmacist for a recommendation of a good B Complex.
