I had a bad panic attach 13 years ago and felt trapped when they closed the door of the plane. I made it to California but didn't fly back, drove home. I am just as scared of feeling weird on the medication and being out of control as I am of flying. I am taking a trip in a few weeks and I was prescribed Atavan. Does anyone have any advise?
Good Afternoon Achamberlin.Atavan .05mg is the only anxiety med I can take without too many side affects.I started taking it for inner ear, then in jan2014 I started having anxiety. The drs tried me on different meds and Ativan is the still the only one I can take and work and take care of a child will seizures.I too cannot stand the thought of weird feelings.I just feel relaxed.Good Luck
Atavan will definitely make you tired/relaxed, and this can indeed work to your benefit if you allow it to relax you. We can often make things worse via anticipation and fight a medication, thus making thing worse. Possible you can address this fear with your Dr and possibly get some tips on relaxing the thoughts, as for the Atavan, it is a good choice. Keep your Dr up on your anxiety about flying. Hope this helps.
Im on lorazepam, have been on it for just over a month for axiety, dont be scared to take it, you will be fine, i only take the .5 ones, they are lowest you can go, and it helps all the time when i feel axiety, it just relaxes your muscles so your not all tense up and feeling nervouse, its does not make you feel drugged at all just relaxes you, hope this helps!!! :)
I take Lorazepam before any stressful situation and it works like a charm. Personally I am on a high dose of 1mg up to 4 times per day. it will make you relaxed and calm. DO NOT mix with alcohol under any circumstances!
