I'm on week 3 and I've lost 10lbs. Everyone's body is different, diet and exercise also play a factor. Even if it's light exercise and not a super strict diet. I was in a car accident 2yrs ago and messed up my left leg. I work, but am unable to exercise like I use to. My doctor figured this would be a good option for me.
I felt huge appetite reduction on the second and third day, on the .6 dose. The want for sugar and sweet stuff is barely there and now I can ignore the thought, before I started I couldn’t resist the cravings. I’ve noticed I can just push thought away. The only side effect I’ve suffered badly was the headache on day 2/3 felt like I had a migraine for 2 days. Today is my 7th day and lost 5lb. I will pray to carry on losing! Best of luck.
I just started 5 weeks ago. I am up to 3.0 now. I have only lost 2 lbs so far, but I am eating a lot less also. Not sure why I’m not losing more.. I do feel that I am losing inches though. Thoughts?
I just started mine 5 weeks ago and i took the extreme route! My goal was to lose 35lb and I can only loss 15lb by a diet and exercise before hitting a plateau! until i hear about saxenda and which I didn’t hesitate to try it because I knew that loss will soon come back and hard. So by extreme route i mean i have increase the dosage from .6 to 3.0 in 3 weeks but that because i can tolerate the slow emptying with the help of herbal tea. So the saxanda couple with a good diet and 3-4 sessions a week of exercise help me lose 12lb which is impressive because god knows that the last last few pound is the hardest to shred.
Saxenda is different for everyone. I didn’t feel anything until about 1.8 dose and even then I was supplementing with Topamax
I agree; I am in my 2nd week and used to inject in the morning. When I took the injection, I felt exhausted and started craving food, especially carbs and sugars! As soon as I ate, I had to sleep for a couple of hours! Then I started to inject after breakfast, and before lunch, the same happened. Today (middle of week 2) I am planning to inject before bedtime to avoid fatigue and food craving. If it does not work, I will stop Saxenda as I go through the whole day feeling tired and craving bananas and cereals!!
It takes 11 hours
51 yr old male. Weight roller coaster forever.
Started .6 dosage 1 wk ago @ 284lbs. I have lost 8 lbs.
I take shot in the morning. Slight headache in a.m. - ocular pressure type of headache, not sure if it is med or pre caffeine related. Regardless, it isn’t bothersome enough to really be an issue. Some burping hours after a meal, little constipation.
Normal 3-4 times a week cardio exercising (45-60 min sessions). Some of weight loss may be my mentally trying to make this work but I admit my hunger cravings have diminished and I feel full after eating less than what I would normally eat.
Upped to 1.2 today, hoping for a good week.
One of the things while taking this is to limit the amount of caffeine intake
I just started 2 days ago and the nausea has been very bad. I've been throwing up all the time and I can't keep anything down. Has anyone experienced that before or have any ideas on how to manage the side effects? I started on the 0.6 mg dose.
Me too, I’ve been on it for 2 days and have been so ill.
I’ve had a really bad migraine for the whole 2 days, and felt really nauseous thrown up twice and generally feeling really unwell and not in control. Don’t think I would be able to do a days work on this, I’ve actually disposed of it now and I feel so much better, never again...
Yes, I’ve been so bad took it for 2 days and it frightened me so much I threw it away - horrible stuff. Then I read some unbiased reviews that made me really think about what I was doing injecting myself to lose weight the reality of it...
I am also curious if this drug takes time to build up in your system, I started 5 days ago and have yet to notice a change in appetite or side effects. I will say, if you have not yet signed up for the patient assistance program, you should. Even if you don't use the pharmacy card, you get 16 weeks of NOOM for weightloss medication, free. Great app for Cognitive behavorial based weightloss (psychology).
I started my 5 month supply of the injections on saturday. Anybody know how soon you start feeling side effects from the Saxenda? Nausea is a major issue for me. Right now I get sick no matter if I'm showering, out doing errands etc. But I also have liver disease which causes nausea as well so it doubles for me as far as side effects go. I notice though after a few bites I have to stop eating.
I got told from doctors not to take this if have liver ,and thyroid problems
I’ve been on Saxenda for 1 week and 3 days. I’ve been nauseas since starting it. I started taking the injection in the mornings but was so tired a few hours later so I now inject it at night. The fatigue is better but the nausea isn’t. I haven’t lost any weight yet though :(
Good question. I just started today first dose 0.6 have tried all other meds and even had gastric bypass X3 and RNY X1 almost last hope for me. Only took first dose 3 hours ago. No side affects yet. I heard nausea was most common but nothing. Can’t find literature on when you start noticing affects. A day , a week. Do you have to wait for levels to build up. Fingers crossed. Skeptical also can’t go to gym or exercise. Have kidney disease and iron deficiency anemia that prohibits. Ugh.
Hi Robert
I am also interested in knowing when it kicks in as i took my first shot this morning i got a taste in the back of my mouth and felt a tiny bit sick but that was it feeling ok now 2 hours after taking it.
I am on Day 4, the first two days , nothing, not much more the 2nd two days, although , odd and probably psychological the last two days, since i get up early for work, I gave it to myself, and in the stomach... (Doesn't hurt at all) and i experienced the slight funny taste , but like you for only a short period of time. If i have had a decrease in appetite it is so minimal I don't know it. I have seen alot of people stating that you really start to feel it the 2nd week when you increase the dose... so here's Hoping. :) Good luck, thanks for posting, and hope to see more about progress and compare notes.
I'm starting tomorrow! I'm so nervous. But I need to lose 50 pounds... any suggestions on how to best get started?
I have now switched to the 1.2 dose. I have now gained .4 lb. Needless to say I am very upset. I hope to report good news next week.
My doctor would prescribe either (no idea why) so I just googled Saxenda Doctors near me and picked the one with best reviews. I came home with a one month sample and an RX for another month. No brain damage.
Hi there. Where did you get saxenda prescribed my dr won’t do it. Even as a private prescription
MY Endocrinologist gave me mine... just go it today! Waiting on my insurance to see if they will approve it! I got a month sample... its pretty pricey
Hi, i been on this treatment for 1 month and i only realised that im injecting every 24 hours? Is that right? Or is it every 12 hours? Im really confused
I have been taking saxenda for 5 weeks and I have lost 12 pounds. My appetite decreased to almost nothing when I was on the 1.2 dose... I just increased to 3.0, so I am anxious to see how I do
