From my experience my doctor explained that it slows down the process of digestion so at the beginning foods are not moving as quickly through as they would normally. As you continue it should catch up. As the dose is stepped up you may also feel much less hungry or nauseated. I lost 30 lbs in the first 6 months and it seemed to be less effective after that. I stopped taking it for a while and recently started back up again. My goal is another 20 lbs.
