I wouldn't take Benadryl with Seroquel. I have been diagnosed with ptsd and bipolar, and insomnia, when I took the X-ray 200 pill of Seroquel, I slept for almost a day and a half and if was the first time that I ever took the pill. I woke up and ate some food and went back to sleep. It's strong enough cause out if 24 hrs in a day I normally get 4 hours of sleep but since I took the Seroquel I slept all damn day which ain't a good thing but just take half a pill if u feel like your sleeping to long because I had to. But don't take Benadryl with it cause you might not wake up , lol
A little background on my knowledge about this topic:
I started taking Seroquel XR when I was 13, and since then have increased from 50mg to 300mg. I am now 21, and have been taking this medication for 8 years. I have decided to slowly come off it because I can't remember what life was like before starting Seroquel and I agree at higher doses it does cause problems with waking up at a reasonable hour. I am now down to 50mg and I also take Benadryl to help me fall asleep and the Seroquel X-RAY 50mg helps me stay asleep and helps me with my depression throughout the next day.
Okay, a few questions:
1. Do you mean Seroquel XR (extended release)?
2. Why did you start on such a high dosage? Usually you start at 50mg, then 100mg, then 200mg. That way you know how it affects you when starting small so you don't get blindsided by the fact that Seroquel will definitely knock you out for longer then you intended it to.
3. When taking Seroquel XR it is recommended not to cut the pill because the pill is designed to be released through the night and the next day. Now if it's just regular Seroquel then go for it, or get a smaller dose if available.
Hope this helps for any future inquiries as I do realize this was posted in March of 2016 :)
Hi, this is what the interactions checker says: "Using clonazePAM (Klonopin) together with diphenhydrAMINE (Benadryl) may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Also avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you."
