How do I regain energy and motivation after being a long term amphetamine user for 30 years . I have Raynaud's phenomenon, restless leg syndrome, extreme fatigue, tired all of the time and no motivation. I really want to stay off it this time as I quit a few months ago. But I find coping with these after effects very hard.
How to regain energy after long term use?

First let me congratulate you! That's a tough addiction to overcome and you've done it. I'm sure you realize that the drugs helped mask your problems, both physical and emotionally. Now you can work on the problems with a clear mind. First, could I suggest finding a good therapist to talk to on a regular basis. Since the pandemic a lot of doctors and therapists have virtual appointments, so you could do it that way if getting there is a problem. Sometimes it's just easier talking to someone from the comfort and "safety" of your own home. Some therapists will have evening hours or weekend appointments so you can schedule around your working hours if that's an issue. Secondly, I would recommend you schedule an appt with your primary care dr for a physical and complete blood workup. Some of your symptoms could be physical, mental or both. For example, a thyroid issue can cause extreme fatigue, sleep issues and a general feeling of being unwell. Which can also lead to depression and a lack of motivation. Certain vitamin deficiencies can mimic a lot of these symptoms as well. Be honest with your dr about your recent addiction history so he'll better understand and diagnose you. He's not there to judge, but to help make you feel whole again. Don't be hard on yourself. You've overcome a monster of a problem and come out the other side all the better for it. You should be proud of yourself! Now's the time to let other people help you. You deserve to find all the joy and happiness that life can offer. I wish you only the very best and please keep us updated on your progress.
