my acne was never chronic but I fear that I’ve gone too far down the rabbit hole to quit now. I’m on 150 mg and have been for one month (9 months of spiro total). Why is it still not working? I am tired of being unable to lose weight and hyperpigmentation. I’m using a tretinoin cream as well!
When should I quit spironolactone?

It's a poisonous medication. I wound up in the emergency room from it. Stop it asap! It's probably making your skin worse because you don't need it. Dermatologists just throw medications to patients without fully understanding what the dangerous side effects are. I took it for 1 week and I developed a rash all over my face. And the worst acne ive ever had. I'm 47 years old and my skin didn't even look like this as a teenager. Get off of it and look into natural treatments for acne. I use vitamin c, tea tree oil, a good moisturizer and retinol randomly. Good luck!
Knowing what I know now, I would say immediately. I had arm pains, leg pains and gained 30 lbs in the 3 months I took it. And it is HARD to get off. The pains are almost all gone, and the weight is slowly coming off eating only one meal a day, but it has not been easy. Mine was prescribed for what they believed to be a carcinoid tumor causing blood pressure spikes... did nothing and turns out I do not have a carcinoid tumor, but it did nothing to help blood pressure spikes.
