I have a blockage and plaque present in my coronary artery will Plavix dissolve that clot? After having a Heart Catheterization Procedure With Pci. After the procedure the doctor and his team determined a stint was not required as the doctor felt the blockage was small enough to be treated with medication! If plavix does dissolve clots and plaque in the blood. Lets say its blocking 50% of the artery how long will it take to dissolve the clock!
Will Plavix dissolve clots currently in the arteries?

It does not dissolve plaque. It also does not dissolve existing clots. It is an anti platelet aggregating drug. That means it keeps the platelets from clumping and causing clots. It will prevent the clot from getting bigger while your body works to resorb the clot.
Thank you for your quick and informative response. So plavix will keep the clot at bay while my body does the work to resorb the clot over a period of weeks and/or months. But it's up to me thru diet, exercise, and medication (plavix and an aspirin) as prescribed by my cardiologist to either eliminate or limit the amount of additional plaque in my blood, while the plavix keeps platelets from clumping causing clots, correct? Hopefully as my cardiologist predicted at some point within the next 6 months to a year from I will no longer require plavix or any blood thinning meds., and can go back to my standard daily aspirin therapy that's one baby aspirin (81 mg) a day.
Thanks again for the info.
