My husband was hospitalized after a heart attack and they started him on Plavix and they would give it in the mornings. Now that he’s been released he prefers to take it at night as it will be easier to remember and be consistent. Our strategy was to take it 15 minutes later every day to avoid a drastic change. Anyone have a better suggestion or know if this is a bad idea? We are going to ask pharmacist also but thought I’d ask here as well.
It is fine to take it at night just make sure you take it every night. You don't have to take it 15 minutes later until you reach the desired time just take it at that time. You would have to stop taking it for 7 to 10 days in order for it to create a problem.
You don’t have to do that 15 min thing. You can switch it to the time you will remember to take it. Do NOT take 2 doses in 1 day. 9 am today and 9 pm tomorrow if that is when you want to take it. If you are not comfortable with that just take it 9 am today, 5 pm tomorrow, 9 pm the next day. It is more likely to be forgotten and really not necessary to disrupt your schedule with changing a med 15 min everyday. How long would it take to get you to when you want to dale it? Some people have problems with plavix because of some missing factor in their blood but that is not real common. However stressing about it can make you feel bad to. You can also check with pharmacy and they can give details about 1/2 life and all that but you should not feel uncomfortable asking. They like it when they are needed. : )
