... urogynecologist suggested this today. it does not have the side effects of the anti cholinergic like increased thirst and dry eyes. Supposely this acyually helps the urgency and works differently. It last like 50 hours so we are going to try it every other day to start. If you have high blood pressure this med might not be for you. Has anyone tried this medication?

I have used Myrbetriq for several years. I tried other anticholinergics for urinary urgency, but they stopped working. Prior to my retirement my work insurance paid for this drug 100%. Now that I have been on Medicare D for four years, the price of the drug is ridiculous. I'm also having problems finding a drug plan for 2024 that doesn't charge a lot for this drug. It has worked for me, but not 100% lately. I'm considering going off of it and trying Botox injections. My friend did it, and she said it has been life changing for her. It just requires having the injections into the bladder every 6-12 months--or how ever long it lasts. Anyone else here thinking of Botox?
I took myrbetriq for 2 months and started losing my hair in the first couple of weeks. It started working for me in the first couple of weeks, and was very effective.
I have used myrbetriq for abut 18 months, tried the 25 MG for a while, then my urologist doctor suggested I try the 50 MG to see if it was more effective. The 50 MG was not noticeably different for me so he switched my prescription back to 25 mg. I'm pretty satisfied with the medication, it works well for me. Almost fully corrects my urgency and frequency difficulties. However, my Medicare and Tricare for Life (I'm retired military) insurance have recently required "Prior Authorization" and a 12 week trial of alternate drugs because of the high cost of myrbetriq. (a retroactive requirement on myrbetriq even though I've been using it for 18 months and they have been paying for it). There are no generic drugs for myrbetriq, so my doctor has to experiment with alternate drugs and after 12 weeks of ineffective or bad reaction, he can request Prior Authorization for myrbetriq.
Thanks to the cost cutting in Medicare, VA and Tricare Pharmacy for retired veterans. And NO, I did not vote for Obama and I don't like his Affordable Care disaster...
Well, wait until Trump’s tax plan and its associated gutting of Medicare kicks in. You’ll be be far more out of pocket. Good luck.
Yes, I am currently using Myrbetriq for overactive bladder. One per day. My urologist gave me a coupon for a free one-month supply; thank goodness for that, because Myrbetriq is not covered by my insurance. My second month long supply cost over $240.00, which I simply cannot afford, so I am considering taking the Myrbetriq every other day.
But I have been delighted with the medication. I had simply not noticed how diminished my quality of life had slowly become over the past 15 years.
I'm hoping there will be some way I will be able to afford t's not necessary for me to run to the bathoom.
I have been on it now 3 days and it has been amazing. I got free samples and coupon. I can't afford the 240. a month. I had a headache the first day but low level headache n.
I really Hope that you two get some kind of prescription help for this medicine
that is working well to make your lives happier!:)**DD**
headache not caused by Myrbetriq.I got off them and still have headaches. It is amazing. Did you try the every other day?
Not yet, but will post results here. Wish me and whomever else tries the "evey other day" dosing a bit of good luck! :)
My doctor said it has a 50 hour life to the medication so you might be able to take it every other day. I need to give it a try again. It did help but I think I was retaining too much water on the days I took the medication. Then on the days I did not take it I went a lot. Then it bothered my stomach a little so I stopped. I just need to give it a try again. The other option is for me to take Vesicare as needed. On the days I need to go less I take the medication. This way limiting the side effects. I did this when I travelled and it helped a lot. But the other day I was in a meeting and left 5 times so I really need to get better control. I think I will check with my insurance about coverage. Do you know if other meds have not worked you can challenge your insurance company for coverage? Usually requires a note from the doctor about your need for the medication and why others on the list does not work. Might be worth your time to challenge the coverage.
You might need to do this every so many months but if you can get the coverage it be worth your time. Thank you for responding. Nice to finally hear from someone else trying this new medication.

For the past week, I've been taking the Myrbetriq every other day, and it is working very well. And it is EVERY OTHER day, not AS NEEDED. If these good result continues my cost will be cut in half...
thanks I will start back on it as the cost is too much. It does work I've tried so many. I get worried about the retaining fluid too. Where does it go? in thin air??
I also started back up again every other day and it does seem to be working. I have not checked my insurance yet for coverage because the doctor gave me a couple months samples. I started this diet and I am drinking a lot of fluids all day. After getting up 6 times in one hour the other night I figured time to try again! Did get a low grade headache but I slept it off. Thanks everyone for your responses it really helps!!
In the past three months, I too have increased my water intake to at least 8-10 cups a day. Even with that drastic increase of water consumption, with Myrbetriq the frequency of trips to the bathroom are in line with number of trips when I was drinking only a glass or two of water a day. The urge control Myrbetriq offers is a wee miracle for me. And the edema in my legs has actually decreased. I don't know where that increased water intake goes; I certainly don't understand it, but it works! And according to my urologist and his physician's assistant, Myrbetriq is not a worry like other similar medications are to those who have or have symptoms of glaucoma.
