I have been taking it for about a year and I'm on day five. I am hurting really bad. If I was to take a narcotic pain pill would it bring my symptoms back to day one?

From what I understand it can take up to 2 or 3 weeks for The physical effects but the mental effects from it could take even longer I hope this helps thank you for your question love and light
I am on day 10 of my Oxycodone withdrawal. The first 24 hours are brutal & then it took 3-4 days before I could calmly sleep. I did take a half a pill once at about hour 24 when I was crazy & almost screaming from all over twitching & lack of sleep. It did help & it didn't reset the worst of it. It simply let me sleep, which helped further my body's recovery to normalcy. I'm sure this is hindsight for both of us, but, it is much, much easier to taper... even if it's just over 2 weeks going 1/2 of a pill at a time, then lengthening the time between pills. I did that once before & I didn't have that excruciating experience the first 24 hours. I knew better than withdrawal abruptly this time & paid dearly for not tapering.
So, day 10 & I feel normal & sleeping well since day 7. I use time released Tylenol for the aches (& headaches). It helps. Flexeril helps, too.
This is a reset period for me to lessen tolerance build up. I've been through it 3 times in the last 2 years, so, I'm almost a pro.
You WILL feel better every day. Since you've made it past the worst, I wouldn't take another pill if you are trying to completely quit. One will most likely lead to many more & then you'll be at day 1 withdrawal again.
Good luck & look forward to the next day. You WILL get back to life without oxycodone.
I'm a veteran and went the veteran's hospital for back pain after a car accident (not my fault). I didn't want to bias my diagnosis with lawyers. The faulty party had Geico and not enough to cover my losses (sound familiar?), therefore, they covered zero of my clains (the crash sent me into a wall, they paid the minimum of that). My insurance (of 30+ years) was Farmers. They paid 1/2 of what my losses were.
The vets said I had spinal degeneration (not caused by accident) and I was given oxycodone. The dosage ratcheted up over 7 years (my request) but when I stopped (they stopped me); I was given no help whatsoever. It's a tough pill to swallow. I'm still fighting the WD. Trump is right about the Veterans hospital system. In many cases it's "them vs us". That is the system with most government agencies = it's their government vs us who support it financially, "them vs us".
I've been in WD for a couple of weeks, seeing slight improvement only.
Hi Jimmy,
I'm sorry you are having to go through this especially with pain issues. It's really not right what is being done to chronic pain patients and the VA needs to be completely revamped if you ask me. With that being said, you've got several weeks under your belt of no oxy's in your system so, every single day should get better. Don't' get me wrong, I'm speaking from experience. You will have some bad days but compared to the first week it all gets just a little better with time. What helped me the most was making myself eat healthy and walking a bit. I didn't really get my appetite back for several months but I knew that I needed to feed nutrients into my body and I had read that exercise produces endorphins which are the happy hormones our brains make but when using any opioid, our brain no longer makes it as much and did supplied by the opioid. so our feel good hormones are broken.
It will take rest, eating better, getting whatever exercise you can even if it's just walking to the mailbox everyday, drinking lots of water helped me as well and trying to stay as positive as possible.
Withdrawals from oxycodone is horrible and will take a month or more im sorry to say. It will literally cause you not to sleep for days, restless leg syndrome for weeks and you will be sick for a while. Im just being extremely honest as i will never wish oxycodone withdrawals on anyone. Take a narcotic it will not bring you back to beginning, it will enable you to maybe sleep and eat a tiny bit. Good luck
That is not good advice AT ALL. Taking 1 will only lead to another and another, because hey, if I can take 1, why not just 2. I will stop tomorrow. Oops, took more again. That's ok, tomorrow I won't take any. Before you know it, you are off to the races. Please, don't ever advise a recovering (or someone trying to recover) to take their drug of choice. That is very poor advice. You don't have to be a professional to know that.
I took a cocktail of non narcotic medicines. I did not feel One withdrawal symptoms. It was gabapentin, robaxin, phenobarbital, trazodone, and requip
If you are on day five don’t take anything since it will definitely bring back the symptoms!
I Am on day 9 Of stopping 7.5 percocets. 4 to 6 a day for 8 years. I got mad 9 days ago and flushed the pills down the toilet. My back pain is terrible, the days go by very slow, and I have no energy. I don’t think I can do this right now. I get my refill in 4 days And I am certain I will start back.
I am a male 68 years old. I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2003 and degenerative lumbar disc disease in 2009. I take arthritis meds but also narcotics. I have terrible low back, leg, and feet pain. I had a major back operation in 2009 which did not good - maybe made pain worse. I have been taking 180mg oxycodone for the last two years. Finally, my doc got scared by the DEA and cut me off. I am in day 3 of withdrawal and the leg pain is terrible. Anyone know how long this may last? Also, I will still have to deal with pain after withdrawal. How does one deal with chronic pain without narcotics?
Can someone tell me when the anxiety from oxy use will go away. I been on them for about 6 months. The last month I was taking,40 mg a day by mouth. In on day 6. Ready to be free!!!
It depends upon a number of factors and everyone’s different. I found that most of my anxiety resolved by the end of week 2.
What I found, and I’m sure you’re aware, is that keeping your mind engaged is imperative. At night, when I was sleepless for 6 months, I watched Netflix and Amazon like it was a job. I would read, I had 30 rolling games of Words With Friends... i also secured a medical MJ license. That helped me with my anxiety, too.
Good luck... don’t be sad. The pleasure of being opioid Free is worth the suffering. I promise.
You will not go back to day one but please ask yourself what one pill will do for you. In my experience what it does is make you want one more then another and then you are back. Listen I haven’t left my bed in three days. But this is dayv4 and I think I nightvnmbe able to sleep. I have drank smart water taken some Neurontin and ibuprofen which has literally done nothin. I have also tried the Thomas receipe which did NOT help me. It seems to help some but not me. Good luck. And I promise I feel your pain.
On 3rd day off 10 bag dope slide.can anyone help what to do.
Shaking sweating chest ripping thinking of goin to detox
Hey Nano... I know how hard it is, I have been there. All those who have commented have been where you are.
You can try Keaton powder, I found it helpful. Find the thing that motivates you, Nano... the person, place or thing that you want to get clean for... & keep that in front of you.
Hang in there-
I'm afraid that it would. Just try to hold out a little longer
Hey Now, I'm going on day four WD from Morph 15mg twice a day along with Hydro as needed for pain. I have been taking these almost 2 years now and decided at 62 I better get control of this or I will be going down the drain. I can say I have felt like crap for most the days with minor Diarrhea. a bit achy, difficulty sleeping and mood swings. I'm very fortunate to be married to a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) who understands withdraw by education. I'm hoping once I conquer the first week life will start to become a bit more clear but I know it will take several months for me to get back to my old self. As most of you I'm sure you have been researching as I have for home remedies not to find many options other than online or Medical support. I know I can do this without the additional drugs that are mentioned to assist in Detox as I have beat the first 3.5 days strong.
I have however bought Ginseng and taking it twice a day and have purchased another Chinese herb call Tai-Kang-Ning that evidently helps some of the symptoms. I have not received the Tai as of yet and for the Ginseng I'm not sure if it's helping or not? I had my worst night of sleep last night due to the pain running down my leg from my motorcycle accident a little over 2 yrs ago. Too much to talk about. On the 25th I'm headed into the hospital for a DRG (Dorsal Root Ganglion) nerve stimulator and my big concern is post op pain! I will need to live on IBU to relieve pain which is going to be a challenge as I do not want any relapse. I have found if I can stay occupied watching movies or working on my car seems to help. I have been taking Trazodone for sleep for years and after the first hour of tossing and turning it seems to kick in but only for a few hours. It is another recommended drugs for WD. Hey just typing this helped me occupy my brain for a few LOL. Anyway if anyone has some input for me I'm wide open! 3Days Strong, RDSTUR!
I'm on day 4 too - physical symptoms are decreasing but the crippling depression is the WORST.
Sht is depressing, I have had good help from Passion flower and kava. The main thing that helps with the depression is getting up and moving. You gotta get blood and endorphins moving. I'm day 3 right now. Second time getting clean. Last time was about 8 years ago. Last time was way worse as was my habit and length of habit. N.o explode is a pre work out mix that has good things in it that will help get you up and moving. Best of luck. Hang in there..you don't want to do it twice like me , I feel really stupid this time.
I'm on day 10 and it hasn't been easy but I'm pretty much out of the woods. I went and did too much and hurt so bad so I took one. I instantly felt horrible. My question is is this going to take me back to day 1? I can't do it all over again. I'm so mad at myself but I'm still having the back pain that put me here to start with.
I also just joined and am on day4 i am very tired but the worst is over i hope.
You're in good shape. Keep your eyes on the goal of being opioid free. My last tablet of anything was 1/14. I feel like a different person.
By no means have my symptoms and chronic pain vanished, but I use medical marijuana and exercise to better control my pain... and it works. Mostly. Somehow.
Good luck!!! Reach out if you need reassurance or past experience.
I was on 25 mg perks for 5 years but I stopped 6 weeks ago but now I've been taking 10mg a day for two weeks. Will I go through the same withdrawals as the first time
Really sad to say Dave, but yes. I went through the same thing. If you stop again, make sure you QUIT! OMG, I feel so dumb for taking even the first pill after 2 weeks of detox! Best of luck my friend!
