I was taking 12 a day but I knew that was a little too much And my body doesn't know that I went from 12 to 8 as long as it's getting what it wants. So I moved it to 8 a day for two weeks and then 6 a day for 2 weeks and four a day for 2 weeks then two a day for two weeks , and as of Friday September 13th I no longer took a pill I use Excedrin at night for bad headaches (just one) and have only taken three, I also use CBD 18:1 for anxiety and the shakes it also helps me sleep. I've been given a muscle relaxer and so far refused to take it even though I'm on day 8 of withdraws and my neck on the right is stiff. I have also no intentions of staying on the CBD for more than seven more days. I have increased my appetite and the nights are the longest.but if you really want this and keep saying it to yourself you will get this. I've been on Fioricet for 24 years I want this I'm hoping by September 30th which is almost three weeks will be the end of it fingers crossed
what i would do is to not take any for one to two days then lower the dose slowly and when he wants to take more take the bottle and only keep out one day at a time this may take two weeks to get to your goal.
I am trying to figure out how to taper down from 18 per day. I am also trying to avoid severe withdrawl symptoms which I think will occur if he stops for 2 days. How would you wean someone down from 18 per day? 2 less pills per day? Just not sure. Thanks.
I started this because I was addicted to fiorinal which is the same as fioricet - fiorinal is with aspirin and fioricet has tylenol which is technically harder on your liver so it is good to cut down - taper. I would cut down 1 or two a day. The addictive quality is could be either or all of the three properties but I believe the butalbytal is most addictive - the caffeine can be nasty to withdraw from also. I went down 1 for 3 days then 2 for 4 days then down 3 and so forth. Soon he will notice that he is not going to have withdrawal and hopefully it won';t be hard after that. I went cold turkey a couple of times and really only had a little anxiety and felt tired - did not get a head ache. I think I got more rebound headaches from taking too much of that. The fiorinal is more regulated.
I am surprised more people aren't addicted to it because it seems harmless to Dr's who just think it is for headaches and I believe alot of recovering alcoholics can use it for withdrawal and then get used to it. It is the absolute best for a hang over but I had stopped drinking by the time I found it. Good luck. It seems harmless but I literally ended up in the hospital from it.
I so want to know about this! I takeabout 12 a day,and it is ruining my life. I dont know if Ihave the control to do this alone, & I can't go to rehab. I've had 5 TIA so I cannot take any type of meds like Imitrex, due to stroke potential. Any insight, help would be appreciated. Thanks
What is it that is ruining your llife? The head aches or the fiorinal?
12 a day is about 5 more than is generally prescribed but you can become dependant on it and taking more will only make your headaches worse. It is the rebound affect and anyone should know that if you take more medicine you end up with worse problems because you cause the problem by taking the medicine - basically in pain meds and especially for headache medicine. It is pretty much like being a little bit drunk all the time - I noticed foretfulness andthose sorts of things but I had already convinced myself that my headaches were worse. I think fiorinal and fioricet are used more than anyone knows and people don't give them much credit for being as addictive as they are. I am not proud to admit that I have overdosed many times on it and I always thought I could just have one or ttwo - it was like trying to have one or two drinks - CAN'T Be DONE! I haven't had any - I finally gave them the power they were due!! Can't you try anything else?
