My doctor prescribed Lyrica today for my anxiety and now I'm finding myself anxious over this medicine.
Dec 16th of this year I will have 7 years being off pills like benzos and narcotics as well as alcohol.
I am concerned about taking Lyrica for the simple fact that I will not allow myself to take something that's going to be more harmful than helpful.
Is Lyrica addictive? My doctor just prescribed it for me today?

Some people have no problems getting off Lyrica but others do. Unfortunately I was one of the latter. I was prescribed Lyrica for nerve pain and ended up taking it for about 5-6 years. When I finally realized Lyrica was causing a lot of the side effects I was experiencing, along with other medications, I decided to start tapering off it. I then realized I had to taper off very slowly so it took me 2 1/2 years to finally get completely off it. I’ve tapered off other medications and I still have a few to go but I found that Cymbalta was the hardest for me followed by Lyrica as a close second. I’ve tapered off Zopiclone and I’m tapering off Morphine and Xanax now. I will only have Cyclobenzaprine to taper off when I’m done them. I refuse to take any of these types of medications again. There are many support groups for medications, including Lyrica Survivors (Gabapentin). The groups have ideas for natural remedies that can help with many of the reasons these medications are prescribed. It’s always good to do all the research you can about all medications. I wish I would have.
