Hi, I just started 150mg of Wellbutrin Extended Release. Today is day 2. I was just wondering how long does it take for a person to start feeling side effects? Would I be feeling them now or will they come in 2-4 weeks when the medicine is more in my system? How early into your medicine did your side effects start?
How long do side effects take to show up when starting Wellbutrin?

Thanks. I guess I'll have to wait a little longer and see if any side effects show up. But I'm crossing my fingers that I don't get any and the medicine works well for me. ;)
Hello texasgirl28. It truly varies from individual to individual. Wellbutrin (Bupropion) is as a whole, generally a fairly kind drug in regards to side effects. Some common ones are weight loss,(most people shed pounds instead of gaining) insomnia, anxiety. Side effects are generally felt from the onset of taking the drug. Therapeutically, it will take more often than not, four weeks time for the drug to work at its intended potential. regards, pledge
Just a quick note to add to what Pledge has said, my hubby takes wellbutrin, but because he is a type 2 diabetic, can only take 75mg. It can raise your glucose levels if you are a diabetic... Mary
Good point Mary and I was not aware of that. Appreciated, pledge
You are more than welcome! How's the cuppa this morning?
While it takes a while for it to have a therapeutic level in your system, side effects can occur any time now.
