Which is better Wellbutrin XL or Wellbutrin SR?

NOT TRUE for me. I have been taking Wellbutrin IR (immediate release) since 1991 with fabulous results. I was sent the generic in 1999 and bottomed out like a rock! And now GSK has stopped manufacturing the IR. I've been on SR for 3 weeks and had drastic relapse Monday evening which has escalated to full blown depression! I am now going to try the XL and pray that it works... The IR is still available in China, Korea, Mexico and Brazil but I have no idea how to go about obtaining it. But I may be forced to find out. Is anyone else having this problem?

Well I preferred SR and just once a day the XL made it harder to sleep than Dexedrine. I like the combo of Wellbutrin SR and Lexapro or Remeron both helped, also heard Lamictal mixes well with Wellbutrin

Looking for information on Wellbutrin HCL SR. Been taking 150 mg twice a day since 12-19-2015.

Researched it ; this is a form of amphetamine which is fine. Insomnia is bad. Question: can I take 300mg at a time? That is, in the morning, so I can SLEEP at night.

Looking for an answer from Chuck 1957 the retired Pharm tech? Note: otherwise, I want to take it; I think it's what I need for my state of mind. Thank You

BEEP; not a problem at all please feel free to come back and ask anything you need to make yourself feel safer I know what it is like to be very sensitive to medications. And do agree this would be a good starter because many people don't have near the problems taking this one. When see or think about some of the others. But see what your doctor thinks and always feel free to come back. beep; side effects well be the same if you have any many people do real well without much side effect on this one if you want to get better you have to take something and this one is easier for many people to try prior to some of the other medications.AND which ever one the doctor gives you these are both timed release medications which means do not break the tablet to try and take less you well screw up the timed release and not even know how much if any drug you are getting.

In terms of efficacy of treating depression their is no difference. The only difference between the XL and SR formulations are that the later has to be taken twice daily and the XL only once daily.
