How long does it take for abilify 2mg to start working for depression and anxiety?

Abilify is a Godsend for me. Unfortunately though, after 3-4 months on it it stops working so I have to go off of it for a month or two and start back again. Taking this with my Lexapro (which does nothing) makes me feel like a brand new person. I’m happy and joyful. I love life. I’m upbeat. I just can’t explain it. This is what life is supposed to feel like. I finally am able to enjoy my life when I’m on Abilify. No side affects whatsoever for me. Try it!

Today is day 6 for me. I don't even want to say that it has already started to work. Because I know how hard this is to deal with for ALL OF US .THOSE THAT ARE SUFFERING. I am very resistant to treatment and I'm so happy I feel better already. Please know your not alone. We all get scared that the meds aren't gonna work and even when they do we question it. I hope it's not just the placebo affect and I actually am responding well to this med. Good luck to you. I hope this works for you!

For me personally I saw a dramatic difference after 3 days. I dont think that is typical but when you are so severely depressed , the smallest change for the better is life changing. So the change I noticed may not be enough for others to consider improvement.

I'm male 60. Been on 150mg venlafaxine for over 20 years. Doc just added 5mg aripiprozal as I've been in break through depression for the last couple months worse than ever. No interests in anything. Don't want to leave house or see people etc. Getting nothing done. Suicidal ideations coming back. I sure hope this does the trick as I'm really over this deep depression . Sorry for the negativity I'm just being honest.

I am taking Lexapro for my depression. I felt like I still needed a boost , I felt grumpy and everything was a problem . My doctor put me on Abilify and I feel that just after a few days I can feel a difference.
Everyone is different but even a slight positive change feels great. A slow change is ok, as long as I feel something.
Hang in and try to be patient. I know it's hard, when we are in a bad way we want it to stop fast. These blogs are very helpful. Express your thoughts and listen to others.

I've been taking Zoloft 150 mg for 10 years. I was feeling 80% potential. Dr prescribed me 2.5 milligrams of abilify to take in the morning. I went to bed at 10 and have now been up since 3:30 am. It's been about 3 weeks now and I feel foggy, sleep deprived maybe...
I also take 200mg of trazadone to help with sleep.
I feel better mentally except for the "fog" and have been very forgetful. I am sticking with it because at least I'm getting out of the house and not so isolated.

For me, abilify added to sertraline boosted my antidepressant almost immediately... I'd say, at about day three!
Now, I feel almost completely Anxiety and depression free!

I'm on 2mg and have felt my depression improve after about a week... which was very surprising. Most meds like this have taken weeks or even months to help my symptoms. I'm not taking it with any other meds though. I'm hoping that with time I'll feel even better. I have both depression and anxiety so I'm just waiting to see if it helps with the anxiety as well.

I take it along with my pristiq and it has helped so much. I'm feeling so much better and it's been noticed by friends and family!!

10 days for me !

I started taking Abilify about one month ago. After a few days, I noticed it was helping with my depression. However, I was having side effects (Insomnia, increased anxiety, tremors (which I was born with essential tremors)). I was taking 2 1/2 milligrams. My doctor had me lower it to 1 milligram. I have noticed that I am starting to feel depressed again. I upped it to 2 milligrams today. I have a call into my doctor. I'm taking this along with 400 milligrams of Serzone, 40 milligrams (as of today) of propranolol, 1,800 milligrams of gabapentin. I just wish this roller coaster ride would stop already. I have been dealing with anxiety/depression for almost two years now. I'm so over it... I hope everyone out there starts to feel better. If you do not struggle with anxiety and/or depression, you cannot understand how we feel. It's horrible.

It took a few weeks for the Abilify to work with my Lexapro. By the way, the 2 mg is the same price as the 5 mg, at least where I live. So, my doctor, who wanted me to take 2 mg, writes the prescription for 5 mg, and I cut them in half. Thus, saving money, 2 for 1. Dr. also said the extra 1/2 mg per night, would not be harmful.

I'm bipolar 1 and was on lithium and Effexor for years 20+. Started Abilify 10mg and was out of my depression on the 5th day! I have been on it for almost 3 months and I can tell you my life has changed; I
literally am a different person.

I don't know if it works that quickly for everyone but,as my Dr. says, it's a very good drug for me!

Can ability make anxiety and depression worse at first? I take it with Zoloft and risperdone

I was just perscribed 2mg's and noticed a difference about 5 days later. It wasn't a drastic change at first, I just noticed I had more energy to do basic things that I was having trouble doing at first, like taking a shower, making food, talking on the phone. At about 10 days it was a very noticeable difference, I started going out of my house, seeing friends etc. From what I hear it can take up to 6 weeks or so for someone to notice a difference.
