I'm about to start this to augment my other meds (lexapro, remeron, benzo). I just hope that it helps with depression, not just stopping manic episodes (because I don't have them).
I do sort of "cycle" - I have a good day, a bad day, a good day, a bad day. Mind you the "good days" are not great, just better than the bad days.
Does lithium help with unipolar depression -- anybody?

" Lithium is used as monotherapy to treat acute episodes of unipolar depression and as maintenance treatment to prevent recurrence of unipolar depressive episodes."
I read that lithium is the gold standard for depression and that certainly was true in my life. I have a bipolar diagnosis but really bad days were always depression, mildly manic days are just that: mild. I'll always remember that I held my best friend's hand when i took my first lithium tablet. I was afraid of it but was so depressed that I would have swallowed... I don't know ... bleach (NOT SERIOUSLY). But the lithium helped a very great deal. And, while they were saying I was bipolar, the mood stabilizers never helped but several anti-depressants did and do, I have, in fact, Bipolar II; (BP I being the one where the manias comprise the serious side). Good uck and please let us know what is happening.
I had a major depression and was given manerix along with lithium. They only meds that worked without alot of side effects in 6 months. The lithium stabilized my moods and I'm not bipolar just major depression at the time. Hope this helps you!
