Omg, I'm so glad that everyone answered here. Been using the injection for about 3 months now. First 2 months absolutely fine but all of a sudden excess wind, stomach cramps, smelly burps, D&V. But as long as i eat little portions slowly I'm fine. It first started when I decided to eat porridge and berries for lunch. But even that is too heavy on the stomach with this injection and that's when all the burping and stomach issues started and now it's become super sensitive and it keeps happening if I eat even a normal portion size of any food, healthy or unhealthy. I know there's side effects to the injection so il deal with the issue until I cannot anymore. Its really helped with weightloss and that's what I wanted I suppose. I rest easy knowing that it's caused by something I can stop. Better than some serious underlying issue.
I'm only four days in and only taking 0.6 and my burping and farting all day and night is so extreme and smelly. I feel your pain and hope this goes away with time (really quick).
I am only on my second day of Saxenda, with a dose of .6. I rolled over in my sleep and burped, and the smell was horrid, just like sulfur or boiled eggs. I’ve been told it will ease off after day 4. We shall see….
Did it ease up? I’m on day 6 and experiencing the same
So glad I have come into this site to read others comments. I am experiencing the most gassy horrible bloating and the burps smells like a fart ( as embarrassing as it sounds). I feel like my stomach is rotten!
Hoping this will ease soon as I do feel SAXENDA is making me not eat as much and weight is slowly coming off
Short answer... Yes
However, I have been taking Saxenda for about 2yrs now. The weight loss has been fantastic. 70lbs lost. There is some work involved but Saxenda makes it much easier to achieve success. It's like taking Zyban or the latest quit smoking drug. It's not an instant cure but it's incredibly helpful and makes quitting(weight loss) a possibility.
I started having foul smelling burbs about 6mos ago accompanied by severe stomach pain(like call 911 pain), nausea/vomiting and diarrhea. The first episode I had all those symptoms. Following episodes have been some combination of the above. This happens every 1-2mos.
I've been trying to figure out what is going on without much luck. Docs just say it's gastritis after testing for H. Pylori was negative. I've been thinking everything from Giardia to heck I don't know what??
Tonight I sit here with foul smelling massive burps (how else do you describe a frequent, huge, long expulsion of foul smelling air?) and a mild stomachache as I research my symptoms online.
I finally suspect the Saxenda may be causing my symptoms after reading this thread and reviewing Saxenda's side effect profile.
However, I think I'm going to stop complaining to family and doctors because I've had such amazing success with Saxenda I'm not stopping it and I don't want anyone suggesting I stop. Now that I haven't had severe stomach pain with the burps I can handle the burping and mild stomach discomfort.
I haven't had diarrhea, nausea and severe stomach pain recently and hopefully won't in the future. The monthly burping sessions I can live with if it means I can lose more weight.
Just wanted to add my experience and thoughts :)
I too recently started on Saxenda. At 2.4 and now at 3.0 i too experienced gastritis, occasional sharp cramping, gas and sulfur burps along with reflux. I just found today the below info and hope it helps.
Tea-green tea , peppermint or chamomile
Water - stayed hydrated
Manuka honey - unique honey can protect digestive lining. Eliminate harmful bacteria in the gut and relieve digestive distress.
Apple cider vinegar - A spoonful can regulate the growth of bacteria in the digestive tract and keep digestion balanced.
Update: I did some more reading and tried drinking kefir regularly. I havent had any foul smelling burps since. It's been months. No pain or any other symptoms either :)
I have it 2-4 x a week now if I had to guess. Probably more at first. I have to mention I did take apple cider vinegar with apple juice once before the kefir but the kefir is so much easier and better tasting. It's quite nice. Where apple cider vinegar is kinda nasty :D
My doctor told me if the stomach ache to to "severe stomach pain(like call 911 pain)" to stop taking saxenda immediately because that is a sign of pancreatitis. Saxenda can damage your pancreas permanently if you're not careful.
I'm glad she told me what symptoms to expect and when to stop, if such-an-such happens...
So far just some burping, nausea and headache.
as soon as i took my first dose, i was feeling full all the time, because it delays your stomach from emptying, but no nausea. i immediately stopped wanting anything rich; even flavoring my rice with garlic is too much. i eat very bland now. im in the middle of week 2, but its the end of the month so I'd love to have a cheat day, but i can't stomach the thought of my normal cheat foods. no way i could eat a pizza, burger, or even ice cream. maybe ill have a popsicle or a sorbet, i still love sweets but i just count the calories. 4 starburst is satisfying when I used to need a whole pack. it really changes my tastebuds and my thoughts of food, so im not going to push the boundaries by eating something fatty. i eat so much fruit and veg I should be gassy, but saxenda hasnt increased it.
This is my third round on Saxenda .
I lost some weight the first time .
The second round I got hungry at bight and didn’t stick to it every day .
This time around I’m sticking to it but the egg burps are horrible .
I thought it was food poisoning at first .
I ate some eggs that cake straight up and I thought they were bad but I think it’s just the saxenda playing with my stomach .
I am 3 weeks in on Saxenda and am just starting to experience the horrendous sulphur belching. I do experience a bit of nausea. Fortunately I have a past prescription for a nausea medication to calm my stomach before work. If it wasn't for having to wear an N95 mask at work, I would be beside myself with embarrassment. I had my doctor give me a prescription for a Miralax equivalent which helps greatly with the constipation. That in itself had me questioning the worth of taking this medication. Nothing like pooping gravel. I have lost 10 lbs so far, so I decided to stick this one out. Love how it takes away all your hunger!
I have been taking Saxenda for past month and following schedule. I started with the sulphur/ rotten egg burps just this last dose up. I’ve read that Saxenda causes gastroparesis which is possibly why burps have been so gross and also why I may not be as hungry. If nothing or small amounts are coming out then you can’t put anything in, make sense?
I just started this about two and a half weeks ago, my burps are absolutely horrible and the stomach cramps are life altering, BUT, it’s working already!!! I don’t know what to do if I should tough if out or not? Do the SE go away?
I had the horrible burps the first time I started Saxenda. I got very sick after week 3 and vomited. I thought this was due to food poisoning from the shady taco Tuesday Mexican restaurant I had eaten at. My second time taking it I was 3 days into the 1.6 dose and the burps came back. This drug helps me lose weight by feeling like food seems gross to me, but messes too much with my body. I am peeing out my behind and burping White Castle/rotten egg farts. Too bad because I could lose a lot of weight on this drug if I could leave my bathroom and my breath didn’t smell like Long John Silver’s dumpster!
Hi I’m on week 7 now and 26lbs down I was I’ll every time I upped my dosage I’m on 2.4 now and Afraid to go any higher as I have burping and a sore stomach at the minute
OMgoodness yes! I had to put vicks up my nose. I am on day 8 and about to throw in the towel. The dizziness and nausea are too much. I haven't been able to work the full week. Now vomiting has started and I am only still on .6mg. Has anyone made it through severe symptoms and if so, how long did it last?
I'm curious to know if the side effects ever went away or did they get worse as you increased the dose? I'm just starting out and I haven't been able to keep anything down not sure if I should stop or if this is just the first few days.
So glad I came across this thread. I have been on saxdena for 2 months now. I thought I was just the only person experiencing this. I am on the full dose.
I have lost weight but I feel it has slowed down a bit. One very weird symptom I'm having is sickness with specific foods. I notice the egg burps got worse when eating pork and lamb and my stomach would be in bits then I'd throw up for about 3 days if I ate either meat. It's got to the point I've had to take both meats out of my diet.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I'm still on this medication at present and I have spoke to my GP about it but the said it shouldn't case the symptoms I'm saying. But my overall health is fine.
Today marks one week one for me. I did notice a mild taste of the rotten eggs for a couple of days or so. I am only at 0.6, but I am afraid to go higher. I am supposed to move up to 1.2 mg tomorrow, but I am going to delay that. The plan is that I max out at 1.2 mg. I plan to spend a couple, or few more, days at 0.6 (due to diarrhea,l.
Within an hour (or less) "of eating," I am scouting for the nearest restroom. And, yes, the belching is very present. I am sticking with the plan as long as I can.
