Has anyone been prescribed Latuda for Bipolar II depression? I have been depressed for 10 years and nothing has completely lifted it. Just wondering if any Bipolar II folks out there have had any benefit. Thanks and God Bless each of you.

Yes I'm on a 40 mg daily dose of Latuda and it has lifted my 10 year bout of depression. I also have Bipolar II. Of all the years since being diagnosed nothing has worked as well as Latuda. I'm also on lamotrigine 125 mg , and Zoloft 200 mg.
Latuda has really lifted my mood and decreased my suicidal thoughts and delusions. Side effects of aggressiveness and 3 hours of sleep only are lessening with a lower dose of 60 mg. Have lost weight as well.
I have bipolar II with episodes of severe depression for the past 24 of my 35 years of age. I'm currently on Latuda, as well as Lamictal, Wellbutrin and Cipralex. Originally I was taking Zyprexa rather than the Latuda and I was able to stay episode-free for five years. Unfortunately it stopped working even with the other meds added, so I was switched to Latuda 80 mg. I could feel the improvement in my mood within a few weeks - I feel like me again and I'm crossing my fingers that I am able to have another stretch of wellness. I can finally, finally live my real life again - housework, enjoying time with my family, restarting my crafting hobby and even going back to my job. Everybody is different, but my experience has been nothing but positive.
I feel your pain! I have yet to find a medication that lifts my Bi-Polar depression after 26 years. I have had to discontinue my career as a research nurse due to lack of focus and loss of most cognition. I have undergone 16 electro-shock therapies. I just started Latuda and one again I am going to have to discontinue it because of excessive drooling to the point of soaking two hand towels every night. I'm feeling like nothing will be able to lift my debilitating depression.
Hi artsynutcase, I see that you have tried meds and ECT and haven't found anything that helps, I have had bipolar depression that is treatment resistant for 24 years and I have started looking into treatments for myself. I researched ECT and it's not something I can do, but I have also researched what's called Vagus Nerve Stimulation for hard to treat(treatment resistant) depression. I don't know if you have heard of it, they've used it for epilepsy since the late 90's I think, to lessen the number of seizures a person has. It was approved for treatment resistant depression in 2005.
TMS is also used now for treatment resistant depression, and has a great success rate. Idk if you’ve heard of it by now, but it’s non-drug & non-invasive. It stimulates the part of your brain responsible for depression.
Honestly I can't tell you which Bipolar I am, don't think I've ever really cared to know, but after looking up on both of them I'm guessing I'm a Bipolar I. Regardless, I have been taking Latuda, now at 80 mg per day, for over a year now and I am blown away by the results. Nothing has worked this well for me, and I've been on countless anti-depressants and all that jazz. Just a little warning, as what happened with me, and usually tends to happen to me when starting a new medication, I spent about a week and half to two weeks being in quite the funk. Just straight depressed, didn't care about anything, and all my energy went to just being able to deal with the day. This feeling eventually went away, and I have only felt that way once since I started the drug. (It was because I wasn't taking it regularly because of school and work reasons, then started taking it regularly again).
Latuda is seriously a godsend for me, and I really hope it does the same for you as it has done for me. One more thing, the directions say to take with 350 calories of food, which I always do, then fall asleep. I've actually lost all the weight that all the other prescriptions I was taking before had laid upon me. I really hope it works for you.
Wow! That is so great! I hope it works for me as I've tried everything for the past 10 years and still have a low level depression that robs me of any joy. I start it tonight. Thanks for sharing!
I am hoping I'm as lucky as you are. I started it about 1 week ago after I tapered off transcypralmine sp? An MAOI. I've been really depressed--crying, unable to deal with anything stressful. No meds work for me for an extended period of time. I'm just hoping to make it through the next couple of weeks. I was glad to see your post.
I'm currently on Latuda (120mg) for my Bipolar II depression and I love it. My psychiatrist tried me on it after hearing from her colleagues that they were having favorable results. I also take Wellbutrin (450mgs) and a small dose of Lexapro (10mgs)
I would ask your doctor about it, he will know what is best.
Thanks! U have given me hope! On effector and ability as well. He just gave me the script so am anxious to SE how it works. Nothing else really has.
Thank you for posting this. My wife is on 80mgs of Latuda and still is not feeling anything after 60 days. The doctor will want to go up to 120 mgs I will talk to the doctor about your treatment.

Here's a link about the drug, it says it's for bipolar I. Do they have you on an antidepressant also?
Thanks and yes I'm on effexor and abilify. Will go off ability after taking Latuda a few days. Thanks for the link.
