My brother has been on Klonopin for 15+ years for anxiety. He claims that generics don't work and when getting monthly refills of Manufacturer's Klonopin, he says some months the drug works better than other months. Anybody else seeing variations in drug effectiveness or is it possible his symptoms are varying?

Hello.
Yes, that's very possible.
Generic drugs are made from the same exact active ingredients and amount that the brand name. The difference is the fillers and the binders that different manufacturers use. For highly sensitive people who have been on the drug for long-term they can usually tell. By law there has to be the exact same original ingredient in the generics. But the binders and fillers may make the delivery to your bodies system faster or slower in the most minor way. To long term users of the non generic medicine this effect is much more noticeable. Unfortunately most insurance companies require a generic where available and if you insist from your health care providers that you want the brand name your insurance may only cover a small portion or none of the cost.
I hope this helps.
