I'm 26, and I've just recently begun taking birth control for the first time, as I'm getting married in 3 months.
I started off with Gildess, which is a generic form of Loestrin I believe and was on it for 2 months. I experienced lots of water retention, mood swings, loss in sex drive, etc., but the worst of all was the itching that started in the 2nd month. It was terrible! I called my gyno, and they switched me to Tri-Sprintec ( generic Ortho Tri-Cyclen), which has a different Progestrone in it altogether.
It's been a LOT better with most of the symptoms. No weight gain, mood swings, etc., however, now finishing up my second week of this type, the itching has started back again!
I've read some other forums on this, but people seem to have different opinions. Has anyone has this issue and had some type of resolution??

I have been on the Nuva Ring for several years now. In the past several months I’ve started researching eczema, hives, and anything related to chronic rashes or itching. I have literally been ready to skin myself alive due to the maddening allergic feeling of crawly itchy dry scaly bumpy skin. It’s been years. I’ve tried creams, steroidal ointments, diflucan for yeast, and most recently came off the Nuva Ring! The itch subsided mostly. I did need to go back on Birth Control though so I did restart the Nuva Ring on June 2nd, it is now the 11th, the last 2 days I have wanted to cut my skin off my body! This itch is back, my whole body is itchy and it’s making me crazy! I definitely agree with you and understand what you are going through!

before I stopped taking sprintec about 7 months ago almost 8 months ago. I was on this pill for about 9-10 months. I noticed I had no appetite really when I took it. I did not have any itching taking this pill but I and my parents noticed I started getting this really weird skin rash that looked like my capillaries were breaking. now after being on the pill for 10 months these spots are all over my body and it looks like ive been beat up. when we first saw the spots they were in small areas. we didn't think anything of it being related to the pill so I kept taking it. we noticed the rash about 3 months after taking the pill. but like I said didn't think anything of it so I kept taking it. Now 8 months after stopping the pill my rash has gotten better. I think I had an allergic reaction to the pill. we got a biopsy done on the spots and the spots are call pigmented purpuric dermatoses. ive been looking all over the place for some help.
and I wish I could help you on your itching with the pill. I thought I read in the packet of info that comes with it that itching is a sideeffect but I could be wrong. I haven't seen anyone who has taking this pill have the same problem as me but I am almost 100% sure the pill caused my spots. (I wish I could post a picture but I don't know how) I believe this because my spots a year ago were so much worst then what they are now. so please if your doctor has seen/ heard anything like that ive explained thats been caused with this pill please help!! 19 year old girl who wants to get her body back to normal and not look like ive been beaten up. :( THANK YOU
