In my own experience, what immediately comes to me to say is the Vyvanse. I'm on Vyvanse 70mg. BUT here are the differences: Adderall is instant release and lasts a shorter amount of time than the Vyvanse. I'd say the Adderall lasts about 4-6 hours tops (just regular Adderall, not Adderall XR). Vyvanse is a very long-acting med that stays in your system anywhere from 8-12 hours. So, you'd have to take 20mg of Adderall 3 times a day every 4 hours to equal 50mg of a one time morning dose of Vyvanse. Make sense?
yes thanks for commenting HPoole u summed it up..
No problem, friend!
Anybody who has had a RNGB "gastric bypass" know this: Vyvanse is essentially an extended release medication. Works for about two (2) hours because the part of the stomach-- the duodenum, that releases acids, enzymes to activate XR medications-- is absent from the process. When Vyvanse works it's a very good medication but ask for immediate release medications (Adderall) for example. Although I'm going to ask my new doctor if I can take Adderall as booster.
I know this is a really old question, but I just want to clarify that the comment about gastric bypass makes no sense. Vyvanse is not extended release. Vyvanse is a prodrug, a prodrug will not be affected by your body absorbing it quicker, your body has to metabolize the medication to turn it into the drug and then metabolize it again to use the drug and is therefore regulated by the effectiveness of your metabolism and not how quickly you digest and absorb the substance.
The Pro drug comment is a fact, yes. Now the medication is actually metabolized through enzymes instead of through normal means making it very different. I will say that the Enzymes that it attaches to are protein based - so eating something high in protein 10-20 minutes before you take Vyvanse should give you a slightly better "effect", duration and outcome. I have taken almost every ADD/ADHD medication on the market since 2001 and Vyvanse has been by far the best all around and I've been taking it for about 6 years now.
No. I'm going to answer your other question more thoroughly than this though. Give me a few minutes. :)
