I'm on Vyvanse 50mg and feel like it's just not strong enough. I used to be on Adderall and also tried Adderall XR. I was given Adderall 20mg -3 times a day and it seemed to be an okay dosage amount for me. I'm trying to find that equivalent dose of Adderall to what I should take with the Vyvanse. The Vyvanse doesn't have as bad of a crash as the Add and seems like a smoother release of med throughout the day. I just want to know if anyone has a similar experience w/the meds I've described and what dose should Vyvanse compared to the Adderall be now that I'm on the Vyvanse. I do have a high tolerance for just about any medication I've ever taken so I just don't know what the norm or high dose is with this med. My doctor started me on 40mg. When I told him I didn't think it was strong enough; Compared to the years I was on Adderall, and knowing what my body should feel like, he only moved me up to 50mg once a day. He seems a little hesitant which is understandable considering it is a control substance. So please if anyone can help with their experiences w/it or opinions on what I could discuss w/the doctor to tell him how I feel I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much.

I didn’t know Vyvanse had a 40mg or 50mg option and Doctors shouldn’t start you on the strongest dose available for a new drug that you've never taken. If you’re on so called 50mg already, your Doctor can’t prescribe you 2 per day so you need a 70mg Focalin or 35mg twice daily IMO.
quick note regarding switching from adderall to vyvance. i myself have recently switched over from 15 mg Adderall daily to Vyvance 30mg (month #1) and now on 50mg Vyvance (month #2/3) and in reality, you wont notice a difference until month #3. Vyvance works well and definetely is a slow , slower growth of improvement where Adderral is instant as in one hour. Strength dosgae to compare is Vyvance is equivalent to a little less than 50% of Adderall ... so a 50mg is about a 22 mg of Addy. Major difference is of course the high, buzz feeling. You wont get that instant rush of Adderall but after a month or two, you will feel a warm focus on doing things, more natural feeling than tweaking out.
Though i prefer Adderall most definetely, unfortuantely there is currently a nationwide epeidemic of generic medication falling way flat ... this includes Addy. Vyvance is made by Shire, who used to make and produce the original Adderall. Its safe at least for now,,,
I'm so glad I found this conversation !! I have been taking adderall for about 3 years ... 20mg 3x a day and in the beginning it worked great! I was able to focus and able to complete tasks with out the anxiety ... But over the past 6 mos I've started a new job and I feel like my mind is pulling in 100 different directions again and that overwhelming anxiety is back it's as if the adderall is doing nothing but making me more scattered ... I have that total fog feeling . I have also switched from celexa to 30mg Pristiq and have felt like that has helped with my depression a little better... I have been reading a lot about vyvanse vs adderall and want to ask the doc to switch but I'm afraid of the transition between the two *sigh
Hi! I am in the same situation. Been taking adderall for 12 years now. My dose is 20mg 3X/ day. I am switching to Vyvanse but trying to find the appropriate dosage that's comparable to the dosage of adderall I was on. I see it's been a bit since you wrote the post. If you have found any helpful info pls send my way! My dr started me on 50mg of Vyvanse. Hoping it will do the trick. Just took first dose today.
Yes, I'm still on it. I'm actually on 60 mg a day now and it works great! I like it a lot better than the adderall. Doesn't give me the crash at the end of the day and it works a good 10-12 hours, as to the adderall on a couple hours then needing to take another. Hope it works for ya
Each change needs a minimum of 2-3 weeks before knowing if it's effective, moving up too fast will cause problems down the road.
