When taking Seroquel for insomnia would it work on the first night or does it need to build up over time. Iv tried it for Two nights first at 50mg second night at 75mg. on both nights I slept worse than normal. Very light sleep and constantly waking up..
My psych gave me 150mg and said he'd like me to go to 800mg. Forget that. With 200mg. I slept. But hang over next day for like 4hrs. Wasn't my normal self. I stay away from it. BuT everybody's body is different.

My n=1 experience is that Seroquel works quickly and persistently with no cumulative impact. WRT dosage, I started at 50mg and quickly down-dosed myself to-to 6.25 mg--where I found my sweet spot, which for me was enough of a dose to slide into sleep and pretty much always sleep soundly until shortly before sunrise... at which point I lay there, relaxed about being awake so that sometimes I drift back to some kind of slumber. I wake up a bit groggy but nothing that some yoga and a cup of joe can't remediate. Key for me: just because you're dosing doesn't mean you're off the hook when it comes to sleep perfectionism. Accepting that a low dose sometimes leaves me awake in the middle of the night is part of the deal. I'm not a robot, I just want to be cut a break now and then.

Seroquel helped me sleep immediately but I was on a much higher dose. Your Dr needs to increase your dosage for you. When you get the proper amount of Seroquel in your system it will work like a miracle. Good luck and God bless you

Gone fishn! No, it should work almost immediately... I take it near bedtime and within 20-30 minutes I'm drowsy and ready for deep sleep. That being said, Seroquel can commonly cause agitation, anxiety, and ironically, some insomnia in a few sensitive people. This is usually temporary and I'd give it a few more days (nights). If it doesn't resolve quickly let your doctor know. Best regards and I hope you're getting your Zzz's very soon.
