I take lyrica for fibromyalgia & feel it is a wonder drug for pain, but at the higher doses it does cause some people to gain water weight & blurry vision. My son got a bad case of shingles a couple of years ago on his face near the eyes. His doctor put him on Lyrica ,& it did help with his shingles pain, but because of the eye bluriness he could not see to work well enough, & had to get off of it. I was on 225mg or 3 - 75mg tab a day & have dropped to 1- 75 mg tab a day It doesn't help the pain as well, but I can see much better. Am going to talk to my doctor on Jan. 6th, & will send out a report on the fibromyalgia site. Good luck to you. I know how painful shingles are, & hope I never get them. I should add that I weaned down to nothing on the Lyrica & was in so much pain & did not sleep for a week. Within taking one pill, I slept 3 solid hours, got up cleaned the house & made dinner. More than I had done in weeks...
So Lyrica can make you feel loopy? I started it this morning and notices me being somewhat off. Never had that feeling before from it. I only take it as needed when I have a flair up. Is that an OK thing to do??
Your answer had been posted quite some time ago now; however, thank-you for the info you've provided. My aunt has shingles on her forehead area presently, and it could affect her eye; am going to ask if her doctor prescribed Lyrica. My other aunt who had 8 kids said she'd rather go through all her 8 deliveries all over again than ever experience the pain of shingles again. Apparently it's really really painful :-( So thanks again Mary632009, AnnieBHappy
You are welcome Anniebhappy. I did have to stop the Lyrica in February because of high blood pressure & water retention, but it did help the shingles pain my son had to a great degree... Mary
I take lyrica for Mutiple Sclerosis pain How long does it take to takr effect
Hi berry22,
I noticed the effects of Lyrica with the first capsule I took! It was quite like smoking marijuana (yuck) and I disliked the feeling immensly, but that's just me. Many of my friends with fibro have indicated they would love that reaction!!
Like fibro5077, I too had to discontinue Lyrica for the same reasons.
I do hope it works for you!!
Best wishes,
sweet lemon P.S. You can go to the top of the page (blue bar) Drugs A to Z and see ratings of Lyrica from other patients, just type Lyrica into search engine.
Yes! So did I.felt the high from pill #1,as opposed to #9,sorry could not let thet go sweets, and I too did not want that "high".most people I know that are on lyrica have never experienced that reaction... but the swelling is always a complaint.Give it a chance it may be a good fit for you,we are all so dif.in how we react to these drugs... good luck,c.
Hi c,

I know it girl!xoc
I'm on 300mg×2 day now, used to be on lower doses. With each dosages I admit you sometimes get a rush.
Hi Berry22,
What are you taking Lyrica for? You should give it a week or two before you start to notice a difference on it. Are you aware of Lyrica's side effects? They do have a lot of warnings attached to that drug. I was on it for a very short time. After being on it for just a week for Fibromyalgia I had to stop because my legs and ankles and feet started to swell very badly. It also caused an increase in my Migraines. If you notice any side effects, let your doctor know right away. Also keep in mind that Savella, works almost the same as Lyrica.
Hope this helps answer your question. Take Care,
Karen
2 weeks you should see some change if not, its not for you or you may have to increase dosage. Be very careful to watch for side effects! I personally use savella, after bad reaction horrible swellen of hands and feet no difference in pain. I love savella and its results!
