I currently am scheduled to have major surgery. I was on Methadone for several years before Suboxone. I thought I wasnt ever going to need to take pain meds again but they say that the Suboxone will not be sufficient enough to handle the post-op pain. Time is creeping up and i know i need to stop, but how long? What's the minimum amount of time I dont want to get sick or even stop breathing!! :(
How long after taking Suboxone can I take Hydrocodone?

For your own safety you must tell your surgeon what medicines you are taking. If you are still taking Suboxone the surgical team may decide to postpone the surgery if it is not urgent or will need to consider other pain relief options for you (NSAIDs, local anaesthetic agents or acetaminophen). Five or more days is recommended to be Suboxone free in order to receive opiates and you will need careful monitoring. Good luck!
