I'm diagnosed with bipolar and ptsd - got on Lithium over a month ago and so far so good - however, the dr. added 300 mg of Seroquel xr and I'm having a terrible time with the side effects and I want to stop immediately. Can I just stop taking?
How do I get off Seroquel xr - can't stand side effects?

Hello akworley. Just to add my thoughts, becarefull in stopping the seroquel. It can have some nasty side effects. I was on it at one time, (300mg, just as yourserlf) however not XR but the regular pills, and that enabled me to have a slow, gradual, and comfortable easing (and safe I may add) of from the drug. Best of wishes and good health to you, pledge
What's the best way to get off 50 mg seraquel?
What's the best way to get off 50 mg seraquel?
My doc doesn't have a clue about how to get off he says just stop taking it.
Seroquel XR cause me depression, and too expensive and does not work as well for me as regular seroquel. I take it with a klonopin 2mg, which my psych. prescribed. My sleep is wonderful. Before taking it I awoke every night at 3 a.m., and could not function during the day. There are no drugs that I can take for major depressive disorder/generalized anxiety that don't have severe side effects. No SSRI's, etc. The seroquel seems to help. PRN klonopin for anxiety.
I would try to stop slowly but a Dr is your best bet. I was on seroquel and was wondering what side effects were you experiencing. I was sleeping for 12hrs to what seemed like days. I have not been diagnosed with Bipolar only depression but I can't take myself to be evaluated and psychiatrists aren't cheap when i can't get insurance if I don't even leave my house to find a job or school I am 37 and I feel like I have lost my entire youth. Wish I could take back the last 13 years I would not be the crazy mom and wife that is tired and sleep all day or on a rampage. I hope u find medication that has positive results.
No, it is best to taper off the seroquel over a couple of weeks time.
Thanks! I think your right - still haven't heard from dr. so will go down 100 mg tonight.
Take care
