Hii,iim new ... I always get my period on the first of every month ,but i diceded to get the depo on the 27 of september ,its already oct.18 and no period ,,is it normal not having your period first time gettin the depo???
This is often the case. If I was having breakthrough bleeding before my next Depo was due (say at 9 or 10 weeks), they way to resolve it was to give me the next shot early. This would almost instantly stop the bleeding.
Everyone is different, & it depends on your body's own hormone levels as to what the extra hormones in the Depo shot do to affect you, & how quickly they affect you.
When having your first Depo shot, the clinic/doctor should do a pregnancy test to rule out the possibility, unless you are certain you know that you could not be pregnant. This is because Depo can cause problems with an unborn child.
It is normal to be advised to use alternative protection for 2 weeks after getting your first shot, or after getting a repeat shot later than you were supposed to.
It is possible for Depo Provera to give you a false positive pregnancy test, & so if you were to get a positive result, you would need to see your doctor to have it confirmed for certain.
I have only had one injection of depo provera and it has made me semi crazy. I bled for the first few weeks and then I didn't bleed for another few weeks and then after that I bled again for another few weeks this was back in March when I first got the injection and now its 6/21/14 and now I'm just spotting. Depo Provera has made me have frequent out bursts of crying for no reason and then my boyfriend asks me whats wrong like he feels he's done something wrong and then I have to remind him he's done nothing wrong. Then I have sore breasts, sore sides of my body just recently, horrible head aches ( and I never get head aches) I remember in the middle of the time frame of having this injection I remember I just went in my room crawled up in a ball and just cried and cried.
So now it is June 21st today and I have a time frame to go back and get the second injection from June 17th- July 1st and I'm definitely not going back and I have all of these symptoms only after ONE injection. The funny thing is when I got this injection I didn't receive any information on that depo can cause bone loss, infertility, or these awful mood swings. When I called the clinic where I had the injection they said it would take a full 3 months for Depo to leave my system so its June now and by October Depo will be gone for good !!! Out of my system so for any woman out there considering Depo Provera I would tell them NO find a different form of birth control the patch, the pill, anything at all but Depo Provera I'm happy I found all of this out since Ive only had one injection Im reading about people who have been on it for ten-twenty years and longer I don't know how you woman do it who have been on it that long its only been one injection and I'm putting this to a stop because I'm twenty three and have a wonderful boyfriend and want to have a healthy child one day. So basically in my opinion stay off of Depo Provera
Hello i been on the depo shot for many years and never had a mentrual with so happen i just got one whats wrong
I started the shot when I was 23 years old and I bleed for 6 months afterwards, I was scared a little so I switched to the nuvaring which made me not go get my third shot. so I actually just miscarried in January so I chose to depo once again april 2013 as well, but I haven't had any problems so far... its best for you not to panick jus yet, the shot responds to every woman different. most of my friends gain weight, no babies, nor bleeding excessively... but mine I had the worst problems ! so just allow the shot to work and you will know if your prego or not... most times the shot will stop ur period within a couple shots
Hi there
It is very likely that having the Depo shot has altered your normal bleeding pattern. I bled heavily and irregularly on it for the first 3 shots, & then settled into not having any periods for around 17 years on Depo.
Given everything that you've said, I think it is very unlikely that you are pregnant, but I would still take a test if you are worried, even if just for peace of mind. If you were pregnant already when you had Depo, and it hadn't shown in a test, you would need to get advice from your Doctor immediately, because Depo has been known to cause problems in pregnancy.
Doctors usually tell you to wait 14 days before having unprotected sex, after you have had your first Depo shot, or if you have a repeat Depo shot, later than you are meant to.
It is also possible that the emergency contraception that you took, can alter the timing and amount of your next period, so you've got a few things going on in your body right now.
I'd say to stay in touch with your Doctor or Family Planning clinic & let them know about your concerns, for peace of mind, if nothing else.
Not sure how fast it works but it can play up with your periods you may have little bleeding on and off for awhile but mine have stopped now but I have been on it for quiet some years with no problems
if i had unprotected sex on the last day of my depo shot and i just spot the next day for 2 week is that normal ? It's my first time on this .
