Someone please tell me this is mild and safe and tolerable.
This is the medication my doctor wants me to try for anxiety, depression, and sleep.
What is your experience with Trazodone?

I have only been on it for 2 days at 50 mg. I feel nauseous. I don't want to take it anymore. I have been nauseous most of today.
These drugs are very potent. I didn't feel normal after taking a tiny chip of the tablet.
You could try taking half or a quarter or just try something else. There are a lot of natural remedies like melatonin for sleep.
Take care!
I started out with 50 msg, and now I'm taking 150. I don't fall asleep as easy as I used to. I am building up a tolerance to it again. Guess the doc will up it next time I see him. Still gives me the "hangover " feeling.
Good luck on your quest .
Thanks grly.
I was out of it today with just a tiny dose. Many years ago I started taking Klonopin for sleep. Have you tried that? It also looses effectiveness over time. But to me, it feels more natural than Trazodone.
Wearing yourself out with exercise can help sleep.
Take care.
I have better results with Lunesta 3 mg. No hangover feeling that I got with Trazodone.
Hi, Groovy! I agree with Jimmy. My husband has been taking trazodone for sleep/anxiety for about 2 1/2 years. with excellent results. He did initially start at 50mg and gradually had to increase it to 150mg.
As long as he goes to bed and gets a good 8 hours of sleep he's fine the next day.
PS, no side effects!
Best regards and good luck to you, Cammy.
Thanks!
Good to know that he had no side effects. I had less difficult side effects with this than with other antidepressants. I'm actuall taking it to see if it helps with anxiety and depression as well as quality of sleep.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Trazodone is a non narcotic medication. I have used it on and off for 10 to 15 years. The others that responded say they feel like they have a hangover in the morning, you should give your self 6 to 8 hours of sleep and you should be fine in the morning. Please let us know how you feel after 1 or 2 nights of taking it.
Good Luck
Thanks for the information.
I tried a tiny piece last night. I did notice feeling much calmer. I slept through the night, but I'm not sure about the quality of the sleep.
I'm taking it for depression and to see if it works for ocd.
Was kind of out of it today.
Thanks for asking.
I took Trazodone for sleep and it was very effective. But, I did feel hungover the next morning and had a hard time waking up quickly. It is mild and fairly safe.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a good day.

Have a good day.
I take it for sleep off and on as needed. It will build up a tolerance so it works great for a while then your body gets used to it. I can't say anything negative about it though.
I was given 50 mg Trazadone for sleep and anxiety, but I have to cut it in half otherwise I feel like a zombie the next day. If I'm having restless arms, I take half and then the other half later in the day or evening. I do notice that I don't get any side affects other than tiredness and have never had withdrawal from it. I hope this helps you. Please let us know how you are doing! Hugs
Thank you so much Gramybear. :-)
It is nice to hear a thoughtful response.
I haven't had the nerve to try it yet. I am very sensitive to medications so I was going to start with 1/4 of a 50mg.
Take care.
Do what you think is best for how you were react because we don't all respond the same. Slow always wins the rest, right? lOL
To Groovycammy- I too have been prescribed Trazodone by my GP for sleeping. I take 150mg approximately one hour before bed. As a sleeping aid I find Trazodone to be effective.
As a antidepressant Trazodone is one of the older antidepressants still on the market. If you do intend to use Trazodone as an antidepressant don't be surprised if your doctor give you a higher dose for depression.
Best of luck

Thanks bestpup.
I am very sensitive to these meds so a small amount would probably work. I took a tiny chip last night, and today was cleaning the house and organizing things which I hardly ever do! But I was kind of out if it.
Have a good day.
Groovy; Yes I agree with Janie, We are all different and medications well sometimes work differently on many of us. But this has been used for years without much problems at all. I also only used it as a sleeping pill too. I do know some people do take it during the daytime but I could not handle it The best is to try it at the time the doctor said. And many times remember when you first start a new medication it may make you a bit more sedated until your body get used to it so if it's at night you may have kind of a hangover the first day or two. Good luck to you
Thank you Chuck.
I appreciate the info and thoughts.
Hi Groovycammy-
I can only tell you my experience. I took it for sleep. If I took it during the day it made me tired. It is suppose to be non-addictive. I had no side effects, but I did built up a tolerance after a while and it stop working. Best way to find out if it works is to try it.
Hope it works for you :)
Thank you Janie! I appreciate any information and encouragement.
