Is it safe to take effexor with trazodone (at night for sleep). I heard it is prescribed as a natural sleep aide. I'm just worried if it is safe to take these two drugs and if trazodone works for sleep? Does anyone have side effects?

Ekamisakis,
Trazodone is sometimes prescribed as a sleep aid because of it's very common side effects:
"Nervous system
Very common (10% or more of users): Drowsiness (up to 41%), dizziness (up to 28%), lightheadedness (up to 28%)"
There is a rare possible interaction with venlafaxine called serotonin syndrome which can be serious but is readily treatable in it's early stages.
If your doctor prescribed the combination it's likely that they feel the benefits far outweigh the potential risk.
You might want to let your doctor know you're concerned and get their professional opinion.
Take care,
