I have completely interest in everything and been staying home most of the time. I have been on Effexor for over a week. I want my life back.
Does Effexor give you motivation to get to work, gym and other daily activities?

I have found the Effexor to be very helpful, I do still have days when I have trouble doing anything but I am also on pain management from a severe car accident in 2014, being hit by an F350 crossing a street in 2005, and I am also a breast cancer survivor. I had bilateral mastectomies plus extensive chemo and radiation in 2008 as well as as a 3 year regimen of Zometa. I take methadone and oxycodone for chronic pain. I just recovered from a bout with shingles on left side of my face, to be exact my forehead, eye, part if my ear and top of my head. So now I also take 1200mg of gabapentin as I have what hopefully is not going to be permanent nerve damage. So, I believe without the Effexor my life would not be manageable at all. I began taking it when I had cancer, stopped for a fee years and after the car accident I eventually began taking it again and the results have been very effective. Give it a chance.

Hi, Imagine! Yes, it should. Not every medication works for every individual, but I LOVE Effexor and what it does for my outlook on life!
Be patient and give it some time as it can take 4-6 weeks to reach full benefits although you'll start seeing improvement everyday.
Yah my mom took it and she said it got her out of bed.. Question wildcat.. Did this medication give you the drive to do things? Ive been working on and off with work and even when im at work i still get repetitive thoughts. How severe was your depression? Were you able to live your daily routine with work and what not? Did your depression really affect your social life?
Its kinda an odd confusing question but was it the medication that got you up and ready to face the day or did you still have to force yourself to do things?
I was hospitalized for severe depression... on disability and unable most days to even shower and dress. Working was out of the question.
I had been on several antidepressants prior to my hospitaliztion but it was the Effexor and much therapy that got me going again, no doubt in my mind. I'm still taking it along with Abilify six years later and am living a happy, healthy life.
