I can't speak for LDN, but I can speak for my experience with Amitriptyline. Yes, it helped with my anxiety, sleep & pain (although it stopped working for pain, after a couple of years), but the side effects, & horrendous withdrawal, just weren't worth it. There are groups on social media for those dealing with it. I had to join one, for support. After just a few years on it, & the weight gain it brought, it also caused hair-loss & I developed a heart condition, all of which I have found out from others in the group, are very common. Withdrawal was gradual but the doctors don't seem to know just how gradual it needs to be. The side effects of withdrawal were awful, & many struggle to get off it, at all. After a year off the drug, I still have the heart condition (POTS), but the hair is growing back (I suspect it was affecting my thyroid) & the weight has dropped off.
