I’ve tried med after med and nothing seems to help me with my chronic pain. Trying to find something that's not an opioid due to doctors not really wanting to prescribe them for long term use

Many years ago I was attending a conference at UCSF in 1980 and this topic was discussed by Dr. Smith (Haight-Asbury Clinic, San Fran)) and Dr. Daryl Inaba, Since then there is little information available in the media. Are there any updates
