I've been taking Contrave for about a week. So far no side effects, but not much change in my appetite either. I was hoping for instant hunger disappearance!! Does it take a while for the effectiveness to kick in? Thanks!

I just started today, instantly moderate cramping, appetite gone, ate less than a 1000 calories, lost 5+ pounds. Will continue with regimate for now. Must start eating high nutrition food, because of keeping energy and not letting body suffer. Good luck to all, God bless.
It took about 1 month until noticed I no longer wanted to binge all the time. It's been a great tool for me after losing 60 pounds to help me lose the next 20 and begin to maintain it. I only take 2 a day.w
I am on week 4 today and I at first saw a difference but then the past two weeks not! So I am hoping this week two and two will help! I have notmlost any weight at all yet! I am so sad. But I will give it a try longer. Then I am not sure how long to try before I give up if I am not losing. I need to lose 25 pounds but it isn't buying and that is with extreme exercise!!
You know I am wondering the same? I am going to start week 2 tomorrow and noticed on week 1 not much of appetite control like I had when on Saxenda.
It took the full week of 1 a day and then on the 2nd day of 2 pills a day my appetite was diminished
Does contrave really worth takeing
It will be 2 weeks this WED that I have been on CONTRAVE and the appetite loss started right away but REALLY KICKED IN yesterday for me- so about a week and a half- currently doing 2 pills a day-
Almost to the point where I don't feel good- for me not to drink wine on a SAT night- is very weird- but hey- I will take it- that is what I wanted- I still don't think it's going to be a total cure-I am really committed to staying under 1000 calories when I can and getting 10K steps in at least 5x a week so my stomach is also shrinking- I did find it really hard to sleep last night-
How do I request the scale?
Really easy- go to the Contrave website and answer a few quick questions. I got the scale in week and it's awesome! I love the texts- really motivating!
This is week 2 for me and I'm eating more than ever.
When I first started I was also told no carbs like pasta and grains etc. So the first week I was very sluggish and tired cause of no carbs and my keytones started working in stomach. My appetite did decrease as in getting fuller with little meals. Now the nausea stopped when I would eat and take those in between. I take my 2 in morning at 9a. M and then 9pm. You want a 12he span. It also helps me sleep now. 2nd week I would be wide awake. It just takes time with effort and some exercise. At least 45mins. A week or more. That is what my doctor told me to do and a journal of what I eat. My. Lower back don't hurt as bad anymore. Which I love and can finally get on the elliptical again. You just have to give it time. Do not eat greasey fatty foods or drink. It does make my face oily that I don't like. I feel like a teenager again. Other than that Im ok. Im going to give it a chance. Been on it a month.
Who told u no carbs? Do u have an eating plan u can share?
I am on week 1 and only taking 1 pill in the morning, I haven't noticed anything. When I was on phentermine I lost 40lbs in 3 months, I had no appetite and that motivated me. I didn't crave carbs etc. so when I chose to eat it was things like a cheese stick or a piece of chicken. I hope that the next weeks will be better!
I have been on contrave for three days, I feel nothing. It is to expensive for me to stay on it longer than one month. Phentermine only cost 40., but my doctors will not give it to me. Phentermine worked so well.
Do the side effects start after a couple of weeks. I only take two a day right now.
Today is my 4th day on Contrave and I am still titrating up from the one pill. My provider coupled it with 1500 mg of Metformin.
I feel sick if Im hungry and I feel sick if I eat too much. I cannot eat a lot as if my stomach is the size of a nickle. I got in maybe 6 bites of breakfast this morning and had to quit eating. I find that I feel less sick if I eat before I take it. I havent started the night time dose yet, but have already noticed Im not sleeping well.
I've been on contrave now since February 2015. I am down 38 pounds and I've kept it off. It took me at least 1 month on the full dose before I realized my eating habits have changed. You have to sign up for the scale down program for this to work. I've found weighing every morning keeps me accountable and the text messages I get every day helps me want to monitor my food intake. Don't give up. It's the best program and the most successful I've been on in many years.
What is a scale down. How many contrave can i take. I take 2 am and 2pm
The scale down program goes hand in hand with contrave. After your first prescription you send off for the free scale and go online to join the program. You answer a group of questions and every day you weigh at the same time and they text you any changes in weight along positive feedback. Every week they email you your progress. Daily weighing keeps you accountable.
I must tell you that this is the very first time I have ever posted absolutely anything over the Internet, including Facebook! (except for the occasional cute photos) The reason that I am writing right now is because I felt totally lost when I started Contrave and this discussion helped me so I want to help others as well. My doctor did not tell me anything about this drug and I was not losing weight and my hunger did not stop when I started this medicine. But I only began about 15 days ago and of course I stuck with it to give it a chance. I read somewhere (not sure if it was here) about someone who had increased his dosage to get to the full dosage quicker. I decided to give it a try. I I began increasing my dosage every 2-3 days instead of every week. I waited to see how I felt before I increased further.
Fortunately I did not have any adverse side effects and I am now on my second day of full dosage and I already see significant results! Maybe because I have taken Wellbutrin in the past or maybe because my body seems to be resistant to side effects. I would urge everyone to be very very careful if they choose to increase dosage quicker and even recommend to talk to their doctor about it. I am not as hungry as I was before, I get full quicker and I already lost 3 pounds. I just wanted to mention this and provide some hope to those of you that are still not seeing any results.
