Can you break open Adderall XR capsule and take 1/2 now and 1/2 later?

No. Adderall XR is a special long acting formulation. By opening the capsule you completely destroy the formulation. If you feel the dosage is not working for you and you need more flexibility then see your doctor.
Adderall is available in many different strengths both plain and long acting (XR) including:
Adderall 5mg, 7.5 mg,10mg,12.5mg, 15mg, 20mg and 30mg.
Adderall XR 5 mg,10mg, 15mg, 20mg, 25mg, 30mg
