Though minocycline is traditionally an anti-biotic that treats bacterial infections, there are more than several current studies in which it has shown a significant ability to reduce viral shedding.
I'm not saying that it will reduce viral shedding in any forms of HSV because it has yet to be tested in this particular area, at least to the best of my knowledge. Thus, its properties still may present benefits to different types of herpes and other viruses. However, if you have current antivirals, I would suggest using them.
Just food for thought!
No, minocycline won't help to suppress genital herpes. Genital herpes is caused by a virus so you'll need antiviral treatment.
