This is like taking benadryl..anything u take in excess will give u a "weird" feeling! But really this med just barely takes the edge off of anxiety... maybe it works wonders for people... everyone is different... it just relaxes me a lil bit!

If anything I'd rather have my son smoking marijuana or using it different way for it has no internal or external effect. Hydroxyzine is use for itching, sores, wounds, and will make you drowsy. If taken 1 25 mg (blue/green capsule) from 15-20 years of age it will just make you drowsy. If you exceed with 2 or more there will be an effect on your son but taking too much can cause extremely blurred vision, rarely will it cause you to get high in a good way. It gets you high in wrong ways which is very very sleepy. You should speak to him immediately before taking too much or it will lead to coma or seizures from blurred vision. I study all types of medicines pills to powder to liquids to injections. Best wishes to you and stay strong mighty mother!

My opinion for anxiety and PTSD because I have both I take xanaxs three times a day 1 milligram and 50 milligrams of Seroquel once day!!

I believe so. When I was on 10 milligrams a night, it had no such effect. However, when they increased it to 25 and then again increased to 50, it felt like I smoked a joint. I'm answering this question in a personal perspective, so parents be wary.

ok so i have a daughter named diamond and she is always in her room then i found this white powder on her dresser behind her jewelry box and then inside her jewelry box i found a bag of white pills that have h502 on them and when i looked it up i started to wonder why she was using them and if she was getting high off them could that be possible

I just got them prescribed and yes if you take more than 3 you can get high off of them it is not a good high either it makes you drowsy irritated and mean I told my doctor I do not like them and I am stopping them because I'm used to my xanaxs.. and plus it's like taking 4 benadryls so just be careful because you can OD on them

I have been taking hydroxyzine pamoate 50mg capsules (1 pill @ bedtime) for the last 2 yrs now. I agree that it can make you feel high. 15 to 20 minutes after I take this medication I begin to feel like I smoked a fat joint. I have hallucinated a little on them as well. I believe that do to the body chemistry of adolescence larger doses of this particular medication can make a teenager feel high.

many kids in my school will offer me money for my atarax (hydroxizine) because it offers good sedative effects and many kids will try to abuse it so i would just ask him about it. I have a preprescription for it for stress and and anxiety. the pill is great when used for the right medical reasons

My wife and i give our kids some space. Our daughter suffers from depression,ptsd and ODD(oppositional defiance disorder). My wife was on a phone call with a mental health professional and our daughter took that time to find some Xanax that we forgot to lockup. So sometimes being a harda!$ is needed.

Hey taurineruby: years later and all you did was sign up, misquoted your target to give you some semblance of authority. Nothing here gives you the right to all gang up on a persons belief. It would seem your childhood was less ideal but it's the fault of no-one here. I'm firmly in favor of liberal parenting with some boundaries; not so strangely people are happy to talk to me and ask personal questions. The only thing that I learned from being belted with a blunt object was that the idea of doing that to a child sickens me.

Over policing ur kids is one thing..emptying pockets b4 laundry should b expected. I'd definitely have researched a pill I found in my kids pocket. Id also inform him that if he gets caught w it and no scrip he will prob go to jail. He may or may not know anything about what he's taking. If somebody have me a random pill at a party I would take it and ask questions later... but I was extreme. There r very few kids who have a great relationship w their parents to say 'hey mom..got this from Zach..what do u think'... I mean really..come on

First of all when I was a teenager I had good communication with my parents but I did hide a lot from them it's just being a teenager and I have a 13 year old daughter that does not tell me everything but most part she does it's not called controlling I'm sorry I believe everybody has their own opinion and there should be no arguments over social media yeah granted you have your own opinion leave it at that!!

A must agree ... controlling parents are no good ... I have a 17 year old daughter and we have the best relationship because number one I'm not controlling number two ... she knows if she comes to me I'm not going to freak out and yell and scream and ground her ... I will have an adult-lke conversation with her about whatever the problem may be ... drugs are a very serious issue and instead of not instead of going on a talk board and asking for information ask him and tell him he's not in trouble ... as far as this stuff it is a relative of the Benadryl family. It really doesn't do much harm it causes sleeplessness and drowsiness and it will also help with anxiety. It is not a controlled substance. I don't see any real danger with this drug but like with all drugs people can OD on acetaminophen so better to talk then not to to him ... good luck. Concerned mom.

It also causes profound drowsiness in some people. It can help you to sleep for hours. They give it for itching and hives a lot. Kids will abuse almost any drug that can cause a change in consciousness. You definitely need to talk to him and see why he was wanted to take it and let him know that it is dangerous to take pills other people may give you especially if you dont know what they are. Some pills can be deadly on the first dose (not this one, but high doses of some pain meds like OxyContin can kill in one pill)

I have never had hallucinations from it but it's prescribed to me so I dont know about that.

I agree. I take 50mg of hydroxyzine every 6 hours for anxiety. Yes I have taken 3/4 pills at once and I have never experienced any hallucinations. Just very relaxed and tremendously sleepy.

Hydroxyzine (aka Vistaril) is an antihistamine just like Benadryl. He may be able to use it to accentuate a high off of something else, although unlikely, but as for getting high from this medication alone, the answer is no. Like Benadryl, it can make someone very sleepy.
