I am currently on 150mg of Effexor. Overall I am very happy with my progress but the only problem I have is that I have terrible nightsweats. The sweats are so bad that I have to change my pj's twice a night and put a towel down on my soaking bed. My whole body from my head to my toes sweats, I am literally dripping with sweat! My consultant says he has never heard of anyone else having such severe sweats. I would really like to know if anyone else has such bad night sweats?
Does anyone else suffer from extreme nightsweats while taking Effexor?

Hello,
I have been having the same problems, Sweating profusely, wakkng up a couple of times a night with my face soaked, inbetween my leggs as gross as that sounds.. its really horrible. I take 225mg a night and have done for the last say 7 months -8 months. It is Venlaflaxine the other name? Thank you, feel disgusting waking up like this everyday
I this “in between the legs” issue too. I cut up an old bed sheet and I sleep with that in between my legs. Thankfully my bed is big enough that I can start sleep on one part, once it’s too sweaty I move to a non sweaty part, to let the sweaty area dry out a bit. And back and forth.
I'm glad I'm not alone on all of this. I thought maybe I was going through menopause after having an ablation 10 years ago. I wake up 3 or 4 times a night in horrible sweats since the bumped me up to 150mg of Effexor. I change clothes every time and the air conditioner is on and off all night. The medicine seems to make me dead to whats going on around. I think its time to switch. Thanks for sharing so I dont think I'm crazy.
Been on venlafaxine for 10 years, and have awful night sweats throughout. It's worked so I put up it. I'm now potassium deficient, has anyone else had this problem?
I have the same exact problem. low potassium levels and extremely severe night sweats.
never knew till now it could be attributed to Effexor.
I am on 225mg, over 200mg Effexor moves from being a SSRI to being a SSRI and NSRI, i get the night sweats too as well as bad acne. It also leaves me feeling numb like i cant think and just feel grey with no emotion.
I’m on 225mg as well. I also get night sweats now and bad B.O. I shower 2x as often as I used to. Before going on Effexor I used to feel sad. If emotions had colours, sad would be blue. But everything is grey now. I don’t feel anything either. Sometimes I think that being sad would be better than nothing.
I used to be on 225 mg but found it completely debilitating and I couldn’t function at all. Over 6 months I came down to 150, but I feel like I’m worse off on it, with all the side effects. I’m about to start on lexapro, a little nervous though.
That's wild, I used to be on 150mg and it helped a lot but I still had days every now and then when it felt like I was back in the middle of depressive episode. Ever since I switched to 225mg, I haven't had a single bad day, and I feel like myself again. The only thing that is less-than-perfect about this dosage for me is the night sweats.
When I went up 150mg I had that problem for about a month now I'm fine
I have also been taking effexor for about a month and I suffer from night sweats. It never happen until I started on this medicine. I'm only taking 37.5 mg. It has to be a side effect. Also I'm a male.
Talk with doctor and ask him if you could be placed on another drug that doesn't have the side effect of extreme sweating. There are many antidepressants that can help you without being drenched in sweat. Some of the older tricyclic antidepressants work just as well as Effexor. The tricyclic antidepressant, Imipramine is very good. I take Imipramine and lithium. When an antidepressant isnt working effectively, lithium can be added and the results are great! Effexor is for resistant depression. Imipramine and lithium combined works just as well as Effexor...
I actually saw my psych this week and asked him the same thing. I have the problem when I wake up in the morning, almost like I have a fever. From time to time I get warm during the day but it doesn't last. Yes, I am on Effexor.
You know, I used to about once a night, but that's stopped. I haven't given that a thought in a while. I've been on 150 of effexor for more then 10 yrs. Are you around menopause age?
Hi thanks for your reply but im 35 years old so can't put my sweats down to menopause.
I've also been on effexor for more then 10 years, I'm 35, and I have night sweats every darn night. I'm completely drenched.
