I got mine filled on the 18th of this month from Walmart. It's horrible! I am not convinced that it is even close to being a replacement for the name brand Adderall. I can't stay awake, feel cranky/moody, headaches that won't go away, shaky, I can't find barely anything on the internet about this medicine either.. Its a white stop sign shaped pill marked m in a box on one side and a 20 on the other.. Anyone else have any issues??
Has anyone else received a new 20mg generic Adderall from Mallinckrodt lately?

I think I'm the only person who actually "LIKED" Mallinckodt. However, they changed the formula. At the beginning of 2019 I could not find it anywhere. My prescription was filled with a generic called North Star I think? Those gave me the worst headache of my life, couldn't take them. Finally my pharmacy said they had the Mallinckodt back in stock and I filled my prescription. All I can say is these are NOT the same as the old Mallinckodt from years past. I still have about 8 of the pills I filled in 2018 and have compared taking last year's compared to 2019's. The Mallinckodt they recently started filling up pharmacies with are TERRIBLE! I actually fall asleep after taking one. I've tried it for days, just puts me right to sleep. So I researched and from what I can see Mallinckodt was bought out by another company and they must have changed the formula of the generic adderall they used to make.
I've tried Aurobindo in the past and those gave me the worst heart palpitations so I avoid those completely. I guess I'll try Teva when I fill next. But the newest version of Mallinckodt is like taking a tranquilizer for me. I would love to hear what other generics people do like because I have to switch. When pharmacists say all generics are the same it makes me so mad because it is simply NOT TRUE!
Yes, I absolutely 100% agree with you that the product by Mallinckrodt is horrible. I do find myself falling asleep, constant nausea, and other side effects that were touched upon here, as well. I’m so glad that you have posted your experience. I honestly did not think it was possible for a seemingly small change to have had such an enormously adverse effect.
I am changing back to my regular brand of generic ASAP.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone taken both generic ( not Mallinckrodt ) adderall and brand name ? If so, would you mind terribly telling me the differences that you experienced, if any. Also, why you stopped taking one to take the other ? Thank you so very much. I sincerely appreciate your help.
Happy Sunday Everyone :-)!!
I am prescribed 15mg BID of Adderall for the treatment of both narcolepsy and ADD. This version of a white tablet with the letter M on it is absolutely horrible. I can tell the difference completely from the Orange tablets and the white tablets. I have tried to research to see if it was fake because it does nothing for the symptoms of my disorders. This is actually dangerous. There have been many times after taking this medication that I had to pull over from driving because I'm extremely tired. I also fall asleep at work and random times throughout the day due to my diagnoses of narcolepsy and ADD. The version of this medication should have never been approved! Being prescribed adderall has completely helped improve my daily functioning, ability to focus and overall health. This is from of medication is robbing me not only financially but from my health and overall wellbeing. This should be totally illegal and it plays a part on discrimination of mental illnesses.
Yes, I picked up my last prescription the 30mg and they were white, just like u described and they were terrible! I was always tired and felt as if they didn’t work at all! I know a friend who got the same ones at a CVS! I hope they aren’t replacing adderall with these crappy white ones?
They’re still carrying these?? Everyone I know now with prescriptions call in to the pharmacy first now to make sure they won’t be getting that brand. If someone told me those white “adderall” pills were actually just baking soda and flour mixed together I wouldn’t be surprised.
I wouldn’t be surprised either! Walgreens by me only has this brand now! Ugh
Man I thought Walgreens would be the least likely to pick up that manufacturer
Hey , Ive just found and joined this support group and really thankful ! I am a 50 yr old female & have been talking meds for ADD for a long time... I've taken all variations of Adderall ... name brand, generic, long and short acting . For the most part I've taken the generics and I've noticed a couple of times a slight difference in the effectiveness according to the manufacturer but not of great significance UNTIL now! This script I picked up from my same pharmacist and they're white (never have had white always orange or pink) . I take 2 of 30 mg a day and often will only use 1 a day.
It's like I'm not taking anything at all and have had bad lower back aches and Xtreme fatigue.
My question is do I have to wait until my next prescription? Have any of you taken them back to the pharmacy and they've given you the brand u have had before??
I'm a community pharmacist and YES MANY Patients Are experiencing the same adverse effects.
Unfortunately, it seems that Mallinckrodt is the ONLY manufacturer that is available at just about every pharmacy in my state.
I can assure you that you are not alone. Something is terribly wrong and it needs to be fixed.
The ONLY way something will be done is if you and everyone else who experiences this adverse nontherapeutic effect NOTIFY MedWatch.
They are the food and drug Program for reporting product quality problems.
Call your pharmacy and get the Lot Number and expiration date in order to make a good complaint.
Go to www.acessdata.fda.gov
Or call 1-800-FDA-1088
Unless patients report this therapeutic failure, nothing will be done.
Calling your pharmacy will not get the problem resolved.
You and others affected MUST report the inequivalence to the FDA.
Together the problem will be resolved. Please report it as soon as possible.
Too many patients are experiencing the same thing.
This I assure you.
Thanks
MALLINCKRODT Adderall is not Adderall. No clue what is inside those things but they do not help my ADHD and it seems that this problem has been going on for the past four or five years with this manufacturer getting complaints, according to this website as well as many others in online groups, seeking answers. We all have the same negative sickly symptoms, its not effective, and it just does not work. It is like a fake chalk like Adderall, and it makes people feel sick!! What is really in this stuff? How are they being passed by FDA when clearly they are not "Adderall" it seems. I'm turning in a complaint to the FDA because this is the second time in the past 6 months that this has happened to me too. Not going through another month like the last. What they call Adderall made me feel dizzy, I couldn't focus, no energy, felt fluish, headaches and overall made me feel terrible. I have alwsys been prescribed the TEVA manufacturer Adderall and they have always worked with no negative side effects. Something must be done about this!
So Mallinckrodt is the worst generic adderall followed by auribino. I can and will only take Teva. These two generics are ineffective and make me feel horrible. I asked my doctor about this and he says all the generics are different and that if you find one that works for you stuck with it, and he is surprised their isn’t more problems with gathering generics because there is literally no quality control. WHAT?!
Also sorry for the mistypes in my previous comment I’m not sure how to edit it. Also agree, it’s chalky and falls apart and it makes people sick!! Never heard any positive stories about that brand. It’s should be illegal.
Horrific. Recently there was a shortage so I was told to go to my local Giant Eagle. I have never taken anything but the orange colored. These white octagon shaped defects are insufficient at best. I have received a throbbing headache, irritability, nausea and blurred vision with a painful nerve feeling in my neck. I would highly recommend these be taken off the market immediately
Please report it to the FDA online. It's the only way this common problem can be resolved.

just got these yesterday and already have a bad feeling about them. they dont feel like they are working.. are these placebos? this is unacceptable
Yes, I have a few years ago and I must say they are WONDERFUL. I wish I could find them again. Those sweet little white stop signs where oh where are u?
I just got mine today and it is horrible. I was searching online for others that have a bad reaction to this medicine. It's only been one day but it's been a complete roller coaster of feeling disoriented, to very happy and motivated, and now to a complete build of irritability and rage. I can't even function and can barely write this response. This is not like me at all and I have taken Adderall for a few years now. I know this has to be this particular manufacturer's brand of generic Adderall. I'm going to call my doctor in the AM to try to get my old brand back and turn these in. There is nothing but complaints online about it.
I have always taken the peach 20 mg adderall and worked so well and that's why i always filled at shop rite. When i pick my script up last night my pills were yellow and i feel nothing
Our bottom line is "Let the buyer beware." I've been taking Adderall (20 mg generic) for years with no problems. I'm a grass-roots kinda guy and choose to have my 'scrip filled at a local Ma & Pa pharmacy-again, no problems. The generic tablet is pink in color and works just fine. If you have a bad experience with any "pharmacy" (note the sarcasm), the axiom should be "Strike One--and you're out!" Much as I don't like to give my business to the "big guys"... I've used CVS in the past when my local guys were closed for the holidays and the generic Adderall I got from CVS was OK. It never fails to amaze me that the sleazy people (like Walmart) are so blinded by greed that they're stupid enough to think they can get away with dispensing this look-alike crap to people.
Had mine filled on Oct 11th at a pharmacy in Missouri.
It was filled with a mix of these little Mallinckrodt 20's and another brand.
The Mallinckrodt (white stop sign shaped pill with a big boxed 'M' on one side) - these tabs don't even feel like they are working at all! Very irritable, confused, zero energy. Was relieved but also concerned to see so many others having the same problem with them. At least I'm kind of funny when i'm irritable.. haha.
But seriously, talked to my Pharmacy and requested that they never ever ever fill my order with this brand again. Give me peach ovals or give me death!
Yes, have had ADD for 16 yrs & 51.
Been on same adderall IR 30 mg twice a day.
Had my script filled with 30 mg adderall made by Mallinckrodt, it has done nothing, if anything made ADD worce because it does not work, had this type a few yrs ago and rememberd that it did not work.
Done research and many say it does not work. So besides dealing with having ADD I have to take time to get pharmacy and dr on same page to get another script as to get the orange ones by TEVA or Shire, and because of the stupid laws you have to jump through hoops to get back on track.
The stuff needs to come off the market.
Yes my last refill was from that manufacturer. But I’m going to tell you I have been having problems with adderall ever since they lost their patent & I started taking generics ( ins co would not pay for brand) I believe these companies need to be investigated because I feel something just isn’t right with these generics. I have bad headaches, high blood pressure but low pressure if I don’t take them. But I have Chronic Fatigue Symdrone & they do help a little but not like they should & I know some that have to take more because of the effects are so low & it’s not a tolerance that is effecting them bc they take breaks & when taken again same thing. Something is wrong with the dosage ( a lower amt cheating people)or some kind of fillers that are bad. I just feel there is a need to investigate these manufacturers I really do! Thank you!!
