Yesterday I picked up my prescription and realized it's by a manufacturer I have never heard of, Zydus/Nesher Pharmaceutical. I have found Sandoz to be most effective for me, and noticed a difference when my script was filled with Teva once before so I spoke with my pharmacist. My pharmacy is kind enough to do what they can to keep Sandoz in stock for me, but occasionally it's unavailable. I'm curious to know what others are experiencing with Zydus in it's efficiency to get an idea what I could expect from this medication over the next month. It's somewhat newer and haven't found a single review so even if you personally haven't taken Zydus brand generic but come across a review I'd appreciate you passing it along. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
Has anyone had the generic Adderall by Zydus/Nesher? 20mg?

My pharmacy switched my script to Zydus several months ago & I have suffered an extreme decline in mental & physical well being. I’m 100% exhausted all the time, I cannot focus to save my life, I can’t think clearly, I can’t get anything done. It took me quite a while to make the connection, but it’s the switch in meds. It has changed my life in a horribly negative way.
I’ve been taking 20mg Adderall for over 15 years and was most recently provided Zydus brand by my mail in pharmacy “Express Scripts” for the first time. As others have commented and experienced, I too feel as if these pills are like a placebo. They do almost nothing... maybe the equivalent of a 5mg... maybe. I really do not understand how a FDA approved formulary can really be so bad/different. Are there any real avenues to pursue to report such discrepancies?
I couldn't find a way to report, but I ended up calling my other local pharmacies and found that my Walmart carries teva. Now I get just that script filled there now and its been so much better!
I have been taking the Sandoz 30 mg for several years with good success. I went to Kroger yesterday and didn't notice until this morning that I got Zydus. This med is absolutely worthless! I got no lift at all or any energy throughout the day. (I had to go to bed at 5:00, I was so tired.) The main side effect I've always had with Adderall is extreme dry mouth. Well, today I went through the whole day without having to sip water, chew gum, etc., which tells me that there's no active ingredient in it at all!
I started taking adderall again around Sept 2018 and about 3 months ago. I take 20 mg tabs 2x day. My pharmacy switched from Barr to Zydus. I have noticed a significant difference. With Barr I was focused and could switch tasks easily, and with Zydus, I find myself getting "stuck". Like I'll go out for a cigarette break while studying or doing homework, and next thing you know it's been 3 hours, and I'm chain smoking. It's almost easier for me to focus on school work without it than with it. I gave it a chance, but I only have one refill left and when I go back I am going to talk to my doctor about it. Hoping we can somehow find a pharmacy near me that will take a new adderall prescription without any history, just to get a different generic.
I recently had my 20mg adderall filled at Kroger’s and was given the Zydus brand generic not only on the adderall but also on lamictal. The stuff has been absolute garbage! One month in on the brand and I can’t feel a thing. Tomorrow I’ll be refilling with a new script and by no means will I ever accept the Zydus brand on any of my meds. With a little research you can find they’ve had recalls on many of their generics. I believe Zydus manufacturers their drugs in India. Their drugs should stay in India! I’m happy some of you have had a good experience with this manufacturer but I will never accept this brand again. I take this crap with an extra strength 5hr energy twice a day and I’d swear the 5hr is the only thing that’s working. I’d love a hotline phone number for this company or if any of you know of a way to report a company to the FDA I greatly appreciate your sharing...
I found this thread just off a google search looking to see if anyone was having the same issues as me. My most recent prescription of 30mg generic Adderall was also changed to this manufacturer, & from day 1 I knew something was off. 2 weeks in & I'm constantly tired, finding it hard to concentrate, & I can barely tell a difference taking it after a 3 day break just to be sure. I'm not sure if this manufacturer uses products lesser in quality or what, but it's definitely not working out for me. I haven't spoken to my pharmacy or doctor because I was trying to find out more info before I did. Luckily I see I'm not alone.
Hey. I have been taking generic adderall for or 4 years and I never had an issue. But this month I got zydus 20mg adderall. It doesn't work for me at all. I gave it 3 days before I researched it. I even took 2 and still nothing. I'm pretty upset with this zydus adderall. It is like it's a 5mg instead of 20mg.
Hello! I have been on Adderall IR (20 mg. 3x/day, now 30 mg. 2x/day) for many years.
I have felt a difference between every generic (and brand name) I have ever gotten for this medication. My definite preference has always gone back to Teva/Barr brand.
Sandoz is 2nd for me, I feel good knowing their quality of generic Adderall has been consistently thumbs up for me.
Anyway, the new Zydus generic: My local independent pharmacy can usually order the Teva brand, but must be another shortage right now. I was surprised on Monday when I opened the new bottle and saw a different generic—of course, I was already out of the pharmacy and on my way to something, and my Rx was a day overdue even I think...
I was dismayed and felt a bit annoyed, but decided to take a chance anyway... my pharmacy knows of my preference, and if they had had the Teva, I’m sure they would have had it ordered and ready to fill for me instead.
It is now Friday, and here is what I have observed so far on the Zydus:
I do not feel it “kick in” like the Teva/Sandoz... it is much more subtle and feels significantly weaker. It is wearing off quicker, and just overall feels like part placebo, maybe?
My concentration is actually decent, but I feel almost numb (which I hate) bodily. I feel as if I need more than my regular 60 mg. to get through the day! I hope to never receive this brand again. I have also had a couple of shaky kind of episodes after taking it, maybe a correlative increase in Headache too, and so to me, this brand seems full of crappy fillers. Just my experience, but I would prefer the Auro (?) brand over this one even - which I had a few months ago, and although it felt slightly weaker and not as good as the Teva/Sandoz, I could function properly.
I might add that back in the day when Corepharma Adderall was still in play, I had to actively avoid it as it made me feel sick, heart racing, etc. I also have Combined type ADHD.
I hope this helps someone else like me, because now I am stuck with this one all month... though I am also very aware that we all respond differently to different generics, and if you do receive this one, I hope it works out well for you!
This month is the first time that I have taken adderall mfg. by Zydus and it does NOTHING for me. I used Kroger due to my pharmacy being out of stock and I didn't pay attention to the mfg. until I started wondering why it wasn't working. I will pay attention from now on though. Everyone reacts differently though.
There has been a shortage of Teva Adderall IR in my area as well. I went to Rite Aid and received the Sandoz brand which I haven't had before. I find it so obnoxious that I have to call every pharmacy to see what generic they have because there is such a difference. My daughter struggles and getting a script of a crappy generic can be a waste of a whole month. I'll keep checking the comments to see if anyone has experience with the generic name you mentioned because I've certainly never heard of it before.
Thanks for your comment. I'll say this, I prefer sandoz over teva. For me there's a difference in how effective it is. Just letting you know that to give you confidence in the month ahead, in case you've never received sandoz before. Yes, it really is irritating to have such inconsistency with medication and it's not right. The issue for me is also that upon realization of the lack of efficiency, it's not possible to return or exchange the medication because of being a controlled substance. You end up stuck for an entire month with something unhelpful.
I'm learning to ask what generic they have before I fill. Sadly..
I also agree the generic brands have caused me to be depressed, no energy, very agitated. When I was taking the name brand I never had any problems. I work in the medical field and have suggested Wellbutrin to many patients due to least amount of side affects. I have stopped referring patients to Wellbutrin due to all the side effects. My suggestions if you find a brand that works for you make sure to tell the pharmacist this will be the only brand you will accept.
Hi Julienicole83, How has the Zydus generic been working out for you? There has been a shortage of generic Teva IR 20 mg in my area and looks like my pharmacy had Zydus available. Thanks for your feedback.
Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Thanks for responding.. and if you do also take Zydus please update with your personal experience with it as well. I'm glad to say that I haven't noticed any significant differences from Sandoz. At first it seemed to be slightly less effective, but only for a day or two, and only slightly. Since then it's been up to par with my regular generic, just as effective. I was really hoping to not deal with a month of struggling to focus, and thankfully that is not the case.
In my experience Zydus was like taking no Adderall at all. I won’t accept Zydus for any of my generics.I now always ask ahead of time what brand the pharmacy carries. I won’t accept Malingkrot. Only Teva or Sandoz
Hi their! I have and currently am still taking Generic Adderall 20 mgs twice daily since May 2018. I was on Adderall back in 08-2012, and took it off and on, Than I just stopped taking it and my other meds since I felt better which obviously that didn't go so well lol! So I do have past and present experience with Adderall generics! Since starting back on taking my Adderall daily almost a year now, I have had Teva, Sandoz, etc. Last month I received the Generic name Zydus 20 mgs twice daily, I love it! It's exactly like the Teva and Sandoz generic Adderall 20mg pills, I am able to focus and get things done, I feel very calm yet energetic, I hope my feedback helps and your Adderall as well
I take 20mg of Adderall twice daily and Sandoz is my pick. If the pharmacy runs out, I'll be given Teva--which is about the same, although "about the same" isn't THE same.
Really, the best way to evaluate the medicine is via your experience. After a month you should have a clear picture. If the med doesn't feel right, speak to your pharmacist is my suggestion. You shouldn't have to spend your money on something that's a "lemon".
