I am currently taking Pristiq 50mg, and have been for almost a year. My dr just prescribed Seroquel 25mg to add to this because of worsening depression and trouble sleeping. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Anyone have experience with Seroquel added to Pristiq for depression?

I have been taking 300 mg of seroquel for 11 months, 100 mg in the morning and 200 mg before bed. I would not be able to sleep without taking seroquel and it does help to lessen my awful anxiety. You are on a low dose. I started on 50 mg and worked my way up over a period of four months to present dose. Just give it some time.
Thank you! I definitely will. I appreciate your response!
I was prescribed every antidepressant on the market with no great success ~ and was taking venlafaxine (Pristiq's cousin) when I started Seroquel. What a difference! Whether it's the combination or just the addition of the Seroquel I feel like a new person.
It's did make me a bit groggy for the first week or so, but nothing a brisk walk and cup of coffee didn't fix right up.
Many people with treatment-resistant depression actually have one of the forms of Bipolar/Unipolar depression and that's why an anti-psychotic medication works so much better.
I hope it does for you what it's done for me! WCV
Wow thank you! That's encouraging! I've also been on quite a few different antidepressants. Usually they work for me for a while, but then seem to stop so I end up trying something new. My dr told me to take it before bed to help with the insomnia. Did you do this too? Thanks so much for your response. I know that these drugs work differently for different people, but it sure is nice to hear of someone with a similar situation drug wise, that had a good experience with the change. I hope it helps me too!
Hi, Cathy! If Seroquel affects you like most people you will have to take it at bedtime. For the first week I would time it; 20 minutes after taking it I had no choice but to head for bed quickly. Once I adjusted to it I no longer felt like passing out, but my insomnia was fully resolved and I felt I was in a normal sleep pattern. Still am!
I've been taking it for the past 2 nights and I've actually slept! Yay! Same thing; 20 minutes before bed and I'm out. I'm also finding it a little hard getting up out of bed and have wanted to sleep more than usual, but I'm hoping that's just as I adjust to the medication. Not sure if it has made a difference with the moods yet. I went back down to 50mg Pristiq after being at 100mg for 4 or 5 days and being very, very depressed, unmotivated and lethargic. That has improved since going back to 50mg for sure. Hopefully the Seroquel will give me the extra boost I need. I see my dr again on Wednesday for a progress report.
hi i was prescribed prestique for depression and seraqual for anxiety disorder. I agree with the others on this topic, its great for sleep but watch out for night eating it can be fierce..Seraqual is reknown to increase hunger ,but i think the prestique helps curb the hunger a bit .it is the only combination of drugs that have not me lethargic during the day.good luck .
