Important warnings
This medicine can cause some serious health issues
Do not use this medicine if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days, such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine.
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine and call your doctor at once if you have:

dizziness, nervousness, sleep problems (insomnia); or
-
cough or stuffy nose that goes away and then comes back, or lasts more than 7 days.
Common side effects may include:

drowsiness; or
-
agitation (especially in children).

Applies to chlorpheniramine/dextromethorphan/phenylephrine: oral drops, oral liquid, oral syrup, oral tablet, oral tablet effervescent, oral tablet extended release.
General adverse events
General side effects have included weakness and pallor.[Ref]
Nervous system
Nervous system side effects have included sedation, drowsiness, dizziness, nervousness, headache, convulsions, central nervous system stimulation, hallucinations, tremors, and insomnia.[Ref]
Cardiovascular
Cardiovascular side effects have included cardiac arrhythmias, increased heart rate, and increased blood pressure.[Ref]
Gastrointestinal
Gastrointestinal side effects have included vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth, nausea, anorexia, heartburn, and GI disturbance.[Ref]
Genitourinary
Genitourinary side effects have included polyuria and dysuria. Urinary retention may occur in patients with prostatic hypertrophy.[Ref]
Respiratory
Respiratory side effects have included respiratory difficulties.[Ref]
Ocular
Ocular side effects have included diplopia.[Ref]
