In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by exametazime (the active ingredient contained in Ceretec). In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.

If any of the following side effects occur while taking exametazime, check with your doctor or nurse immediately:

  • Fever
  • flushing or redness of the skin
  • rash
  • swelling or puffiness of the face
  • unusually warm skin

Applies to exametazime: intravenous powder for injection


Common (1% to 10%): Transient increase in blood pressure (8%)[Ref]


Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Rash with generalized erythema[Ref]


Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Facial edema, fever[Ref]
