What is avacincaptad pegol ophthalmic?

Avacincaptad pegol ophthalmic (for the eye) is used to treat an eye condition called geographic atrophy in adults with age-related macular degeneration.

How should I receive avacincaptad pegol ophthalmic?

Avacincaptad pegol ophthalmic is injected in your eye. A healthcare provider will give you this injection.

Your doctor will monitor the pressure inside your eye before and after giving you the injection.

Avacincaptad pegol ophthalmic is given once monthly.

You will need frequent vision exams before and after receiving avacincaptad pegol ophthalmic.

Avacincaptad pegol ophthalmic dosing information

Usual Adult Dose for Macular Degeneration:

2 mg (0.1 mL of 20 mg/mL solution) by intravitreal injection to each affected eye once monthly. Can be given approximately every 28 days plus or minus 7 days.

Duration of therapy: Up to 12 months.

Comments:
-Before the intravitreal injection, check the intraocular pressure (IOP).
-If necessary, ocular hypotensive medicine can be administered to reduce IOP.

Use: For the treatment of geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
